Anyone been to Fetal Medicine Centre for nuchal fold test?

I've just booked to have the nuchal fold test at 12 weeks. They said that if I get a bad result and want CVS, they can do this then and there, but it might mean waiting around a lot. They also said that because I've booked on a Wednesday (the only day they can do same-day CVS), I will probably have a lot of waiting around even if I don't go for CVS.

Has anyone else been to the Fetal Medicine Centre for this procedure? What was your experience like?

Fatfox, yes - I'll definitely report back on Friday after I've had the scan.

According to LMP I'm due 26 February, but I suspect that when I have the scan I'll be redated to nearer the beginning of March. LMP dating is based on a 28-day cycle and mine is 32 days at its shortest (has been known to be as long as 37 days). I was temperature charting when I conceived and am fairly sure I ovulated between days 16 and 18, so I think I'm 2-4 days less pregnant than my LMP dates would suggest.

Hi

Called the FMC today and they no can longer videotape the scan as they have updated all their machines. They said people can bring a "writable CD" to record some stills on and can give you some print outs of the scan as well, but unfortunately cannot do moving pics of the scan anymore

I had mine there this morning and I have to say I was very impressed.

Had the blood test bang on time at 11:30 and was then called by the sonographer 10 minutes before my appointment time, at 11:50. She was very thorough, and spent lots of time explaining everything to us and giving us ample opportunity to look at the baby from every conceivable angle. She explained what she was looking for at each step and then waited for my blood test result to become available rather than making us wait until after her next patient. We were done and dusted in just under an hour.

Everything looks normal with the baby and I was given a very low risk - I'm 37 and the risk was the same as for a 15-year-old, which is very reassuring. We've therefore decided not to go for the CVS or other diagnostic tests.

We also got some photos of the baby, including a couple of 3D ones which didn't form part of the diagmostic part of the scan but were just for fun. These are absolutely amazing - baby is sitting up, legs crossed and arms raised either side of its head. So cute!

We went there yesterday as well, got some fab pics (but no CD) also no 3D pics

Well done on your result Currantbun. Ours was also good, risk factor os a 31 year old (I'm 42) so all round!!

I was very impressed with FMC

Good stuff Fatfox - would definitely recommend the Fetal Medicine Centre.

Am considering going there for the 20-week scan too.

Me too! Its a toss up between a good quality 20 week anomoly scan at the FMC, or a cool 3D scan from another clinic, with DVD which I could show granny. Definately can't afford both though!!!
