I'm currently 23wk+6 and since I was only 10 weeks pregnant I have only managed 3 days at work - initially due to 3 unexplained bleeds and then problems with my own health. I have almost made it back to work on 2 occasions but deteriorations in my health just led to more Sick Notes.

I have been off for 13 weeks now and am driving myself insane with boredom!!! My current Sick Note runs out next Friday but when I saw my GP for review this morning she signed me off again until the end of the pregnancy!! Shock I understand why and I know the baby is what's important but bloody hell, what am I going to do with myself for the next 15 weeks?? Hmm

I went into work earlier to let them know and to clear my desk etc and it felt really sad - I was so looking forward to going back.

Has anyone else had prolonged Sickness and what did you do to stop yourself from ending up crazy???

It is tricky especially when you are not really able to get out and about. I take it you have exhausted a number of box sets/TV series? Whey not take up a new hobby maybe something crafty like crochet/knitting/card making or some other thing you might enjoy?

There are lots of blogs and websites that you can dip into on so many different things. If possible are there any NCT bumps and baby groups you could go to maybe an hour here or there?

I've only just started mat leave but spent the past week pottering, cooking new recipes and going to antenatal and breastfeeding groups. Have had something social to do every day and this has kept me from getting bored.
Definitely second the crafty advice above, have a go at learning something new and making for baby.
If you're energetic enough to feel bored be grateful you can still use that energy to get ready for baby! Cleaning, shopping etc. Many people stay at work til they are so knackered they have no energy for these things.
Perhaps also get some books/look online for stuff for the early days with baby,eg sleep arrangements, breastfeeding etc.

I'm in a similar position Writer, you have my sympathies. Although I can do some work from home, which has been a lifesaver. Any chance that's an option?

I've taken up baking. It's something I've vaguely always wanted to do but never had the time to learn properly iyswim. Anything like that at the back of your mind? Baking Christmas cookies for friends/neighbours (I figure I won't be able to do much helpful for them for a while, and I'll be needing their help!!)? Knitting? A language you've wanted to learn? Writing xmas cards...

Also my paperwork has never been so up to date and organised. I have little files now for different insurances and everything Grin

I've ordered a few good books off Amazon. Again, ones I've always wanted to have a crack at but never had time. Weirdly I haven't actually read them though. I think my mind is stuck in the "I don't have time to read War and Peace" stage!

Thanks everyone for all your hints and suggestions. My husband seems to think I'm going to spend my days doing lots and lots of housework Hmm

I absolutely love to write - I have wrote two novels in the past, but I'm talking about 5 years ago so well out of practice, but I could I could try taking it up again and start a new one.....

I have also considering writing a list of all the crappy jobs that need doing around the house that we've been putting off and maybe do one a day Smile

My midwife did ask if I could work from home but I'm a Community Nurse so it isn't really feasible....unless I ask my patients to come to me Grin I will have forgotten how to do my job by the time I go back....

Do the list of jobs you've been meaning to get around to as you suggest.

I'm 40+6 wks now and went on mat leave at 34 wks. Was worried about being bored so DH & I constructed a mega list.

Have spent the time gradually working through them. Meant I always felt like there was "something to do" & now our house is completely finished/organised/tidied/cleaned to within an inch of its life and I'm on top of other stuff which feels like a lovely position to bring baby into.

( mind you I've had plenty of sofa days where I achieved nothing but enjoyed Smile)

Last little sewing project going to start today ( hoping I go into labour and don't finish it!!!)..
