I'm 22 weeks with dc 3 and have been having like a muscle pain low down on my right side when I turn in bed at night .. Last night it was so bad and went all the way across my lower tummy that I daren't turn again .. Have also been struggling with walking around For longer than 20 mins as get heavy painful feeling down below . Went to dr tonight who asked does it hurt to wee.. No .. Felt my tummy said I don't know come back if u get any other symptoms . I was so speechless that she asked no other questions and was happy to say I don't know what is that I just left .. Any advice on what it might be .. Will call MW in morning but just can't believe how quick she dismissed me ..was in there for a whole 2 mins if that ??

Look up PGP and SPD on the nhs site - sounds like it could be one of those?

SPD and PGP are the same condition, with PGP bring the current name. Have a look at the pelvic partnership website for really good information and advice. Pain when you turn over in bed is common, as is uninformed GP's. It's essentially a condition which destabilises the four main joints of the pelvis, and it can cause pain in the groin, in your hips, in your bum and your lower spine. It might affect all of those joints, or you may get more localised pain. It definitely makes being on your feet painful. My preferred way of dealing with it is osteopathy, but different strategies work for different people. Definitely speak to your midwife.

Thanks ladies will have a look .. My friend did say it could've that but hoped that it wasn't or if it was that the gp might have diganoised it .. Will speak to midwife .. Just struggling .. 2 kids . Xmas shopping and I work .. :( x

You need to get your mw to refer you to a physio. The physio should give you exercises to do at home and hopefully do some hands on work with you too.

If it is pgp then please don't read all the scare stories online about how bad it can get and start panicking. With the right help in place lots of women with pgp find the pain settles and they have a normal pregnancy and birth.

If you do decide to see someone privately make sure they have the knowledge and experience to deal with pgp.

I've had a similar pain to that, and think it's called round ligament pain. Is it inside your bump, or round the outside? Mine was around the outside at the bottom, both sides separately and together and my goodness me it hurt! Turning in bed was agony sometimes, and I would be in so much pain I literally couldn't move.
I also had the heavy feeling down below, more like a pressure feeling than pain though so might be different. It panicked me to stand for more than a few minutes as I was convinced the baby was about to fall out!
If it's any help the pain at the bottom of my bump has become easier and is happening less often now. It started at around 20 weeks, and I'm now 32+4.

I've had a UTI that didn't make it hurt to wee - I just had bad abdominal pain and a heavy feeling, plus walking around was uncomfortable. I would get a test done on a urine sample if it isn't SPD pain.

Yeah it is like a pressure like i want to wear support knickers lol and the pain is either side of my bump at the bottom and so bad turning last night I just kept still. Will also ask for test for UTI just in case .. Thanks ladies xx

The sharp muscular pain sounds like round ligament to me; I have it on one side mainly and it's excruciating when I turn over in bed sometimes. Also have SPD and that's not muscular, it's in the bones of the pelvis/pubic bone. Have you got a midwife appointment coming up? Sounds like she will be more helpful than your gp!
