Hi iv got my booking in appointment next week and its at my local hospital. This is my second pregnancy and with my first it was in my house. I did have complications and severe preeclampsia with my first so do u think this is why its at the hospital? just wondered if this is normal practice?
Thanks

I've never heard of a midwife travelling to someone's house for their booking in appointment! As far as I know they're always done at hospital or at a GPs but that could vary in different parts of the country.

They may have changed to a central location for all appointments for efficiency. Home visits are lovely but take a lot of time and with the birth rate rising so rapidly many NHS trusts feel it is a luxury that they cannot afford.

Where I live they always seem to be done in ur house. As my friends and family have always had theres done in there home. I just wondered if there was any reason why this time it was in hospital. Im probably just reading into things :) xx

In my area you meet with a community midwife at your local children's centre for booking in. It's different everywhere and things have probably just changed in your area since you had your last baby, don't worry! Smile

I have had three booking in appointments all in different locations: home, hospital and GP surgery clinic. Depended on the area (moved house between no.2 and no.3) and the then current policy. Don't think it means much.
