Muscular pain at the front of the pelvis

I Am 31 wks pregnant and in the past few days I have been experience some muscular pain at the front of the pelvis (not internally).
I have been doing quite a lot lately as we've just moved, had the PILs visiting and also have a very active 2yo.
Is this anything to worry about like the beginning of SPD or just normal muscle soreness as you would get anywhere else from too much walking, etc.?
If it could be the start of SPD, is there anything I can do to stop it getting worse?

If it's in the front of your pelvis it sounds like it could be SPD. You should try to get a physio referral from
Midwife who could also tell you if the pain is something else. In the mean time try to take it easy no lifting. Pushing trolleys sitting with criss legs breast stroke and get dressed sitting down so basically keep knees together as much as possible and no standing on 1 leg.

Thanks McBaby, I will get an appointment with the midwife. I am guessing Pilater tomorrow is not a good idea then? (It's a one to one class if that helps)

If it's an instructor who is trained in prenatal Pilates you should be fine - some Pilates movements are advised by physios but you need to know which ones to do and which to avoid.

Thanks, I will give the pilates instructor a call and she what she thinks as she is trained in prenatal pilates. I really hope it's not SPD, or, if it is, that it will not get worse...

I've developed it over the last few weeks (now 27 weeks) and it's only mildly uncomfortable if I take it easy, the more I do the more it hurts. Sadly with a 2.8yr old I don't get to rest much but it's only slightly worse now than 2/3 weeks ago so hoping it stays as it is!

It's one of the places you feel SPD - the upside is that you've made it this far without your hips collapsing on you - so you may not get it too badly. You had been doing a lot, and now your hips are telling you about it. If you take really good care of it for a week or two, then it might fade/stay low-level. This is an ideal time to be a real hypochondriac wimp, and veg out 'just in case'. (FWIW, I had SPD in one pregnancy, but in this one I'm just getting 'achy' hips which I can then get to fade if I'm a total couch potato and really careful. )

I'm drawing a line between SPD and 'ligaments a bit tender and easy to pull', because SPD is horrible, being a bit tender and taking lots of care of yourself is OK - mentally and physically.

There are tons of threads about SPD and sore hips, with plenty of good advice on. Your best bet is to go trawling through those to get a better feel for the type of things that help people and the things to avoid.

BTW that sounds like I'm saying 'It will all go away, don't talk to anyone' - no. Do talk to whoever, but there's a fighting chance you can minimise it because it sounds like you caught it early.

Thanks a lot everyone. i will get an appointment with the midwife in the next few days and take it easy, just now my hip is niggling a bit, probably from havingto lie down in a single bed with ds as he was refusing to have a nap!
I'll also have a look at the SPD threads as suggested to do all I can to minimise this and try and avoid getting actual SPD and stay at the tender and niggly stage, fingers crossed.

Get a physio referral. If it is SPD/PGP they will give you exercises that can really prevent it getting worse. I had it terribly in my last pregnancy, but thanks to an early physio referral I am managing the symptoms much better this time (33 weeks).
