Breech (transverse)

Babies always been in the same position and after a scan to confirm everyone is now sure she's transverse. I'm only 33 weeks but as her head seems to be behind the placenta their not sure she will move.
I'm mostly curious about other's experiences and what other monitoring you had. There's been mention of another scan at, I think, 34 weeks. If she's still transverse at that scan would I get referred for an elcs? Or would they still wait and see. Also my worry would be that I go down the elcs route and then she moves at the last minute. What happens then? As I think the not knowing would be hard.

Sorry for all the questions.

Hi I am 38 weeks today and have been to the hospital to check my baby's position. We thought she was transverse but she is properly breech. If she had been transverse the hospital would have brought me in this evening and monitored me until I have a elcs - should be next week.

We found out at 34 weeks baby was a footling (doctor had measured me wrongly and so needed a growth check to scan) and then I had another scan at 36 weeks. I am booked in at 39+2 for an elcs and this was done at week 36.

Today the doctor went through all of the paper work with me and did a scan to check baby is still breech. When I go back for the elcs on the 11th they will scan me first. If baby is still breech then elcs goes ahead but if she has got herself in the right position then I simply go home and wait.

They keep a closer eye on transverse babies as there are more dangers associated with them so I imagine you will have regular scans to check baby's progress and movement.

Not sure if they will offer you the manipulation (ECV - can't remember what it stands for) where a doctor will put pressure on your stomach to get the baby into the right position but if they do I would just suggest you have do some research on their success rates.

So although my situation isn't quite the same as yours I hope I have given you some useful information.

Thanks, very helpful to know the kinda scans and obs people have.

The mw mentioned the turning but from reading a few things I'm quite against it or at least scared at the moment.

I hadn't realised transverse was more concerning or complicated. I have another appointment later this week so will ask more questions.

Good luck for your last scan and cs if you go that route.
