Pregnancy really is a truly magical time, isn't it?

I was absolutely boiling in bed last night and, at around about 11pm (having gone to bed at 9) I had what I can only describe as what I "think" were contractions.

They came in waves at about 5-6 minutes apart and lasting for 1-2 minutes each. And they flipping hurt. I've got a pretty high pain threshold and am used to horrible lady spasms (thanks, endemetriosis) but this was vile. And lasted for two hours.

And it flipping hurt. The pain made infinitely worse due to the fact that my DH slept through the whole ordeal and the nausea that accompanied them.

So is this an indication of what is ahead of me? 33 and 3 and I've got 7 more weeks of severe SPD and BH ahead of me? On the plus side, the SPD pain isn't oo intense this morning - the pressure is well and truly low down and focused on the bump.

Grump, grump, grump.

I've been getting braxton hicks for weeks and weeks now. I'm 40 weeks today. Some are uncomfortable and some make me stop and go oooooh. Mine are regular for several hours at a time and I'm starting to worry I won't be able to tell the difference when I go into labour.

I had quite painful bh but they didn't feel as bad as yours - I would phone your midwife just to be on the safe side

Braxton hicks were a frequent event for me from about 28 weeks onwards, but they were never painful- or at least, not as you're describing. They became painful when they were proper early labour contractions. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but I'd check with your midwife to be on the safe side. Smile

I and 35+4 and I have been getting BH since about 26 weeks however they started getting painful at about 32 weeks. The worst attack I had started at about 11.30pm and continued till about 3.30am. The got so bad and painful DH caled the maternity unit. They told me to get in a hot bath and take two paracetamols. That's definetly the worst attack so far... The joys of pregnancy.

It's bloody rubbish! I'm sure it's nothing but if that's a taster of what is ahead of me, baby pickle can just stay in there forever.

Check with the hospital to ease your fears but my BH are awful. They can be breath takingly painful and last for hours. They are getting progressively worse, I'm nearly 36 weeks. I find a hot water bottle really good for them. I also have SPD,it's really crap, I'm hoping the baby will shoot out with ease considering all of the pain I've been through.
