Call your midwife or labour ward and go get checked.

strruglingoldteach · 01/12/2013 19:34

At 23 weeks it's most likely because he's moved into anaawkward position and you can't feel him so easily. But it's ALWAYS best to check out a change in movements- the mws can monitor you and reassure you that all is ok.

Thanks for the advice ladies.

i wouldn't worry immediately, sometimes you just don't notice movements.

I'd have a big cold drink, lie down and wait. if nothing after an hour then I would call midwife

milktraylady · 01/12/2013 19:51

Or a cup of tea & a bar of chocolate - that worked for me once. Jumping around in no time.
If it doesn't work- call your midwife for advice

Good luck

Have you tried drinking a big glass of iced water. This gets mine moving when he's a bit quiet. It really is probably that it's turned and is kicking the back of your womb but do call if you're worried, I have and they were nice and reassuring.

Let us know how you get on x

Doctorbrownbear · 01/12/2013 20:38

I find having a cold drink and sitting leaning backwards normally gets mine moving. A prod of the belly... I found at that time if baby was facing backwards then it was more difficult to feel movements. Still phone your midwife or hospital if u don't feel anything soon.

highlove · 01/12/2013 20:41

Call your midwife. I did this week, got called in and scanned. Thank God all fine but everyone - dr, two separate midwifes - at pains to tell me it's always best to get checked.

I was 25+2 at the time. She'd got herself in a funny little ball with her spine facing out so all her kicks we against my back and couldn't be felt. so even the lying down, cold water, etc did nothing.

It's almost certainly fine and baby's just playing hard to get. But get it checked all the same. Hope all is totally fine.

Londongirl84 · 01/12/2013 20:43

I find that my baby doesn't move much if I've been busy but gets more lively once I'm sitting down and relaxing. Yesterday I was christmas shopping and walking around a lot and didn't feel my baby for quite a while as a result.

puggywug81 · 01/12/2013 21:13

Thankyou for all the replies, I had a cold drink and a lie down, he is now merrily kicking away! I am so relieved, I have had a busy day today so maybe that is why he hadn't been moving.

Ah, I joined this thread to say just what others have. If you ever find yourself worrying about movement, a massive cold drink or a bowl of ice cream and a lie down normally gets them going. Also, as they get bigger they do get 'wedged in' so the movements can change quite a lot in the later stages. At 23 weeks they still have quite a lot of room.

I'm also 23 weeks and was at the hospital yesterday actually due to not having felt baby move for about 18 hours. As soon as I got there and lay on the bed he gave an almighty kick!! Typical Smile

puggywug81 · 02/12/2013 07:21

Thanks to all you lovely ladies for taking the time to reply, I feel much better now, he is back on fine form kicking away, I think I am just a jittery 1st timer!

Good to hear baby is kicking. However cold/ drink advice is dangerous particularly later on. It is always best to get checked. Midwives would rather see you and everything be fine than you worry about wasting their time and have a worse outcome. Google the count the kicks campaign for more info.
