Comfortable sleeping position?

I am 32 weeks and I just can't get comfortable! I can't sleep on my back so I start off on my left side but then I wake up half an hour later with my left hip in agony. I move onto my right side and the same thing happens, so basically I alternate through the night waking up in pain every 30 minutes and then giving up at about 6. I just want to sleep!

I've tried using one of those enormous U shaped pillows but it didn't make a difference - does anyone have any tips on how to get some sleep? At least until I need to wake up for a wee, or with heartburn.... Smile

am in the same boat Sad i put a small cushion under my bump sometimes it helps other times it gets chucked across the bedroom. i get so damn hot in bed too no matter if the window is wide open i end up a sweaty sleep deprived mess!

I'm with you on this too! I've tried adding a pillow under my hip going upwards so it kind of supports bump as well and then tried another pillow in between my legs to support pelvis. It works for a while before I end up throwing them across the room! Grin

Get your hands on a single duvet, fold it in half lengthwise and put it under your top sheet to provide padding - been a lifesaver for me and hip pain. Also look up piriformis stretch on YouTube/google as that muscle is if ten the cause of hip pain, doing the stretch everyday really helped to. There is a seated version to if you can't lie on your back at all (I'm fine for the two minutes it takes to do the exercise).

If you prop yourself up high on some pillows sleeping on your back is allowed, it's the only way I can sleep at the moment (39+6) as bump and hip pain just gets in the way otherwise.

I have SPD and sleeping on an inside out sleeping bag to make turning over easier, has actually made day times more comfortable as well because I'm not starting the day in as much pain. I also have a 5ft feather bolster pillow which usually lies down my back so I can lean on it and it come through my thighs and between my knees. Did that last time too and helped then too

Ooh, thanks everyone - I'll definitely be trying the duvet/cushions and stretches. And it's good to know I'm not alone Smile Hope everyone sleeps well tonight!

A dreamgenii? Although it's probably a bit late in your pregnancy to get your money's worth out of one (about £40 I think), it may be worth looking on eBay etc for a cheap one, or shelling out for one if you plan to have more dc in the future?

Rolled up duvets may work just as well though.

Having said that, by this point in my pregnancies, I was using my dreamgenii and a pillow and still couldn't get comfy (sorry).
