Movements feel more cramped 29 weeks

Hello

I'm 29 weeks and for the past few days movements have felt more slow and deliberate. Less fast jabby movements and more like he's pushing or stretching.

I expected this to happen as he runs out of room but it 29 weeks too early? I still feel lots of movement and some small jabby pokey moves but its definitely 'slowed down' if that makes sense.

I've had a few days of slower movements on and off throughout this pg. The thing you need to keep an eye on is a reduction in the amount of movements. If you're concerned it's always worth getting checked out Smile

Definitely get is checked out if you are concerned. Change in the pattern of movement, rather than an absolute number of movements is important, too. People often worry about gwtting it checked out because it's weekend/evening/bank holidays but remember babies haven't got calenders to check on when it's ok to have a problem.

The most common explanation by far seems to be the baby settling into the 'right' position, with head down and back more turned towards the front of the tummy and limbs towards your innards. In this position you may feel less kicks because they are directed inwards rather than the sensitive outwards but the movements otherwise are exactly the same.

Ah ok that makes sense. I have felt a few giant rolls as well so he may be settling in. He was very active in the night and i will keep an eye on it today. X

I had the exact same thing at 29 weeks. And now at 30 weeks it's changed again - in fact the movements now feel a lot more like they did at the very beginning, low down and sort of poppy. Tbh I haven't called because if I called every time the movements changed, I'd be on the phone every week.

I do keep an eye on the movements though - just making sure that there a good number each day - and if I get really worried, I follow the RCOG guidelines (www.rcog.org.uk/files/rcog-corp/Your%20Baby%27s%20Movements%20in%20Pregnancy_0.pdf) and try for the 10 kicks in 2 hours thing.
