Sore vagina and vulva... Normal near due date? Or resistant thrush?

So I've just finished my third lot of treatment for thrush. Main symptoms of soreness (my standard thrush symptom) and some classic thrush discharge.

Treatment has gone: Internal cream, cleared for 10 days, 500mg pessary cleared for 10 days, 200mg pessary x 3 days... No improvement.

I am now 39+3 and despairing. My bits are generally not my own anymore, swollen and tender which I figure is normal with the blood flow and pressure. But I am also still really sore around the entrance to my vagina and urethra, this soreness cleared for a while after the two previous treatments.

Next appointment free with GP is Wednesday...

Anybody with similar experience? Is soreness normal at this stage? Would triage be able to advise given they'll know better what a near term fanjo is meant to look/feel like? Or should I hang on til Wednesday?

I've never been sore like that through pg. Birth, yes. Pg, no. Have had three dcs. No soreness at all. Swelling with one dc, not the other two, but never soreness.

It sounds like thrush that refuses to clear up. It won't bee dangerous to the baby but it can really make you sore especially if you get stitches in your birth. Also after the birth you can't use the pessaries for a while and not allowed to stick the cream inside either so hopefully they will find a way of clearing it before birth.

I seem to recall there was a thread here in the past about treatments for thrush that included natural yoghurt, peeled garlic cloves and various other (slightly weird but perfectly safe) things up your thingy to eradicate thrush when the usual tricks had failed Grin

I was very sore and swollen like you describe. I also had treatment for thrush that didn't seem to make any difference. At one point I practically had to beg the GP to examine me. Has anyone actually had a look? Could it be a varicose vein?

For me it turned out to be just being pregnant. The best thing I could do was feet up. Any excuse not to do any jobs! Seriously, lots of rest. Good luck, you'll see your baby soon!

Thanks for the replies. Spoke to triage, they said not to worry - which I wasn't really, thrush is only thrush after all. I'm just sore! Lots of yoghurt, smother myself in canesten apparently as the pessaries can dry you out... But no further advice.

Lots of discharge this morning so it's definitely still raging. Starting to lose my plug finally.... Very tempted to go a sneakily buy a fulcanozole tablet.... Not normally recommend in pregnancy but I've looked at the research and it's only high dose in first trimester that causes problems. FDA says a single dose for thrush should cause no problems.... My choice I guess!

Do you have any swelling elsewhere or high bp or anything? The reason I ask, is that I had really sore/itchy bit when pregnant with dd1; turned out it was peeing out copious amounts of protein, causing excoriation, due to preeclampsia. Not to scare you as that is unusual, just making sure

Urine and BP tested on Thursday and this has been going on for a while...

Did my research on singe dose fluconazole... Decent observational studies (1,600 women exposed) have showed nothing worrying so taken one today... Looking forward to sweet relief in the next few days.
