Please can people give me tips on relieving this horrid acid feeling in my throat. I've been using Gaviscon but even that has started to make me feel sick. Also I read somewhere that the baby's head might engage at 34 weeks which will relieve the pressure - is that true for a 2nd baby? Thanks for any info, it's really getting me down!!

i used gaviscon tablets as the liquid was vile!! that worked for me. you could also try a glass of milk or not eating before bed (a good 2 hours) i am having first baby and bump has dropped but acid has got worse. seems acid is not due to baby itself but to hormones relaxing oesophagus and causing reflux. 2nd baby may not engage until just before labour - very unlike 1st bab.

i remember this it was awful! i used gaviscon (or galviston as my dad called it) but got fed up with it too. the baby will drop and you'll feel much better soon.

Gaviscon is disgusting and I think the tablets are even worse. My lifesaver has been the Tesco fruit flavoured indegestion tablets - really seem to work and taste nice too

thanks Wallace - I'll have a look out for them definitely...

Try Nux Vomica. You can get in Boots from the homeopathy section.

I have tried lots of different products for this, and the only thing that didn't make me retch was REMEGEL chewy tablets, they are just like soft mints, taste nice and have instant effect. I buy them from boots but chemists have them too, not seen them in supermarkets though...try them they are fab!

I also cant stand the gaviscon tablets they are a disgusting texture and get stuck in your teeth. I find the supermarket own brand tablets the best. Sainsbury's spearmint ones are yummy and work well too.

I've found sucking a normal mint sweet of most sorts works as well - it is vile though & I get it all day long. Still not as bad as morning sickness tho'!
