34 + 3, is it normal for baby to have hiccups a couple of times a day? Feels like I have a metronome going off in my belly! Driving me slightly nuts, especially at 4.30am :(

No idea if it's normal but I'm 36+1 and my baby's had them a quite a few times lately and often more than once a day. None right now but I seem to be awake anyway Confused

My first baby had them all the time. It was a real pain. It continues after they are born!!

Glad I am not alone in this one, am lying here listening to DH snoring his head off and getting cross because we are on day 2 of a house move at 8am and I have been awake since 3.30! Argh!!!!

Also have to take cat to cattery, sort out council tax and all that stuff and my brain won't slow down. Baby has gone from hiccups to trying to kick his way out of me. Impatient so and so!!

I'm awake stressing about SMP and MA as I'm changing jobs in a week and a half at 38 weeks pregnant. No idea who will pay what, so I'm with you on the brain in overdrive nanny. My head is pounding now though Sad

^^ this

It's funny because my dd was always hiccuping. And now she's a toddler she only gets hiccups if she's laughing. I would like to think she was laughing in my womb!!

:( BWC, that sounds like a nightmare. Maybe someone on mumsnet will know the answer to that one. Hope you get the answers and it is all sorted with least amount of stress.

Wouldn't surprise me if tadpole (baby has been called that since 5 weeks lol) is laughing at me. Just my luck to get one with a wicked sense of humour ;)

Closed eyes to try and sleep but instead started rearranging furniture for the new house in my head... Then realised we need to defrost freezer, started debating weed killer as new garden seems to be majority dandelions and then realised we need a washing line... My brain won't turn off!!!

Plus tadpole has another thing coming if he thinks he is going to try and turn back around at this point in time, feels like a bag of eels are having an argument in my belly!

I've no idea if normal but it's been normal for me. I'm 37 weeks and the baby has hiccups at LEAST once a day every day for the last few weeks.

Was quite cute to begin with but it's now becoming one of those things that I find a bit annoying now the end is so close. Never happy are we -hehe!

TobyLerone · 28/11/2013 08:35

I'm 34+4 and mine has hiccups at least twice a day. It's not a pleasant feeling.

nannynome · 28/11/2013 08:42

And having been up since 3.30, just got cat in basket and ready to go to cattery, DH and my dad are now having to deal with flat tire... Sigh.

Yep. Did my dinger in. At 14 weeks she's still at it Smile

ABumDance · 28/11/2013 09:02

When I was pregnant with DS he used to get hiccups a lot, I think it was because of learning to swallow the amniotic fluid, but I'm not sure if that is entirely correct. He used to kick out in frustration to them,I had to travel a lot and I'd be sitting on the train and my stomach would be making various shapes from where he was so agitated. He gets them consistently before having a growth spurt, he always has done.

Hotmad · 28/11/2013 09:33

From about 36 weeks I felt them, it was daily then increased and I remember one day I felt it like 5 or 6 times in 1 day! Has tailed off again now but still has them some days. Midwife said to me that it's ok, and if they have like over 10 times a day or lasting longer than 20 mins then to contact them. That never happened. It's normal I would say.....

WhisperMen · 28/11/2013 11:18

perfectly normal and they hiccup after birth too, so i've been told. Mine hiccups all the bloody time. Usually just after I have finally got comfy Hmm

I find it very hard to imagine a tiny squishy new born hiccuping. I bet it's adorable though.
