Hi ladies, this is my 2nd pregnancy im due in 19 days eeek (cant wait for this to be over its been awful this time) with my son who is now 3 I combination feed him from the start breastfeeding for 6 months. At first we used cooled down kettle water then just bottled mineral water when we made his bottle's. I plan to do the combination feeding again but do you think its okay to use bottled water from the start?

I didn't think small children were supposed to have mineral water as it can have a lot of sodium in it? I might be wrong though, hopefully someone will come along with more info

If you're using powder, it's important that it is mixed with hot water (over 70 degrees) as the powder isn't sterile and can contain bacteria. Mostly there's just a risk of stomach upsets but in rare cases it can cause potentially fatal illnesses.

I thought u had to wait for the water to cool down before u add the powder? Omg it feels like ages ago since I done this :(

It has to cool for 30 minutes, from 100 to 70 degrees. O never stuck to that rigidly though (mix fed from about 5-6 months ish)

I'm pretty sure you can't give bottled water apart from some brands (evian?)

*I, not O!

70 degree water is ideal, but boiling is better than cooled. Have you seen the tommee tippee thing that's come out recently to make bottles for you? If you're worrying about it, that may be worth investing in (and takes out all the hassle for you). This one

Thanks
