Hi just to warn before you read this is a bit of a rant and moan post along with being excited lol .

Ok so seen the midwife at 8 weeks, had my 12 week scan every thing was good.

So rang my doctors at 14 weeks to make an appointment with my midwife for 16 to 18 weeks.

The snotty little receptionist was quite rude and said don't phone the doctors to make appointments with the midwife ring the number off your midwife notes.
Got so wound up and then she started being nice to me at the risk of me reporting her I slammed the phone down.

SOOO rang the midwife number off my notes and said could I make an appointment to see my midwfie for 16 to 18 weeks,

Yet again another miserable cow on the other end of the phone told me I don't need to see a midwife untill after my 20 week scan. As this is my first I kind of just assumed it was me who got it wrong. So for the last 3 weeks got on with it looking forward to my scan.

Last Friday my midwfie rang me and said I haven't seen you yet, you should of seen me by now (me being 19 weeks)

I told her every thing what I have just typed to you, and it have to say she was really nice and sorry and somewhat fruouis at the silly people on the phone, she asked me if every thing was ok and made an appointment for the 4 th december so I'll be 21 weeks.

I'm scared about my scan now as I worried something will be wrong. I havent felt much movement yet just gas bubble feelings, and it's not every day.

On the plus I'm so excited about tomorrow I'm choosing to find out the sex if I can.

Sorry just needed to rant and wondered if any one else had this problem.

I didn't have this problem but I have found the communication about what appointments you should have & when pretty crappy.

TBH seeing a MW at 16 weeks probably wouldn't change anything, unless you had specific worries? Mine didn't listen to the HB or anything. I think she did blood pressure & wee test!

The only reassurance I can offer is - if you've carried your baby for this long & seen a healthy heartbeat it's very, very unlikely that anything will be wrong at the scan.
Of that tiny % where things arent quite right, there will be lots of things that can be easily fixed.

It's terrifying, of course, it really is but there's no reason on earth why you shouldn't be fine and have a wonderful scan experience (they take a million photos and scare you silly that they've spotted something - this is also normal Smile)

Fx fx Thanks

Lots of people dont see anyone between 12 and 20 weeks either way- it'll be fine. All the midwife would have done in any case was weigh you, chat to you and take your BP!

I think the movements only start from about 21/22 weeks, right?
Best of luck, it'll all be fine dont worry

from someone who had problem pregnancies both times and racked up 17 scans and countless appointments during the two of them, don't worry if there were any concerns they'd seeing you. just enjoy looking forward to seeing your little one one more time before actually meeting them!
ps didn't feel either of mine do a kick that made me stop and notice it till gone 22 weeks.

Seeing as I didn't actually know I was pregnant until I was 24 weeks Winkthen not seeing a midwife before your scan is fine.
I got to see/hear baby, got to find out its a girl, everything's fine and got a due date all at once Grin. Now that's shocking lol
