Can anyone recommend a tea/drink that might help pregnancy sickness?

I'm only 6.6 and feel sick most of the time! Nothing seems to help. Does anyone drink or eat anything that helps?

peppermint or ginger is supposed to help......

personally water and ready salted hula hoops was all I could manage!

It will get better but it is crap at the time Thanks or Cake if you promise not to throw up!

Although I can't recommend anything to drink, I did find that avoiding dairy (so milk, cheese, cream etc) stopped my sickness and vomiting in its tracks to the point where I sailed through the first trimester.

My first two pregnancies I vomited to 20 weeks and it was hell so to find a cure this time around has been marvellous!

If you are eliminating dairy though I do recommend you take a calcium and vit d supplement, something which they recommend now anyway.

I believe 70% of the world's population is lactose intolerant and this can make you feel very ill if you are and consume dairy products so it's worth giving it a go. It worked for me!

I'm 9 weeks and feel nauseous constantly so I can sympathise! I had a Twinings Strawberry and Rasberry fruit tea today and it seemed to help for a while. It just tasted like warm squash!

Fizzy drinks tend to help settle my tummy though unfortunately it's only a temporary reprieve.

UpTheFRIGGinDuff · 26/11/2013 17:19

Half a squeezed lemon,a tiny bit of grated ginger, and a spoon of honey mixed in boiling water.

Also, ready salted crisps.

Hang on in there...it does fade and get replaced with heartburn

sammyad · 26/11/2013 17:23

Twinings lemon and ginger tea with or without honey added is amazing. shop.twinings.co.uk/shop/twinings-revitalising-lemon-ginger-20-teabags.html

Also, inexplicably, marmite taken by the spoonful seems to deal with nausea quite well.

Timeforabiscuit · 26/11/2013 17:27

Tonic water that's gone a bit flat so the bubbles don't make you gag,

I wanted to hit people who said ginger... It was not my only violent impulse during that time.

A bit of liquorice was sometimes nice, and if I'd have known about them the teapigs liquorice and peppermint tea bags may have been nice.

Hope you find something that works and you can move onto crazy taste combinations soon !

Hi op, I feel your pain. Fizzy water, lemonade and fruit teas (berry ones) all helped me. Couldn't really face anything else drinks wise.

In terms of food, crisps, crackers and cheese, rice cakes and potatoes (think bland and stodgy) were all winners. Feel better soon x

EeyoreIsh · 26/11/2013 18:10

Cold fizzy water and tonic water.

Toast and peanut butter.

puddleduck16 · 26/11/2013 18:26

I'm also part of the gang that very cold fizzy juice helps. And the salted snack part.

Charotte31 · 26/11/2013 18:33

Thanks all! I went and got some peppermint tea today anyway so I'll give that a try. I really hate ginger so might give that one a miss!

I never had any sickness with my DD just awful heartburn from about 7/8 weeks. Really hope I don't get that as well this time!

Anything with ginger

lapetitesiren · 26/11/2013 18:40

Barley sugar sweets

AmberLeaf · 26/11/2013 18:44

Hot chocolate type drinks made with boiled water, you now the instant sort that you don't have to add anything to?

Someone told me to try this years back and it did work.

I found the fruity teas to 'watery' hot choc had a bit more substance.

Caip · 26/11/2013 18:44

I couldn't stomach fizzy drinks, they made me burp which made me feel sick.

Chocolateteabag · 26/11/2013 18:47

I had a phase of drinking lemon and lime Volvic water (thankfully was on offer) from 6-10 weeks.

Am now hooked on hot Ribena and Bovril (am 37 weeks)

summerbaby2014 · 26/11/2013 19:25

Lemon and ginger tea worked for me. Also haven't been able to stomach fizzy drinks for a while.

cantheyseeme · 26/11/2013 19:45

IrnBru really helped me, but let it go flat first Grin

Boots Cloudy lemonade

Pregnancy a Sickness Support

Beccadugs · 26/11/2013 19:50

San pellegrino limonata (bank breaking, but worked and I wasn't spending money on food at the time!!)

Hot lemon and honey (either hot or over ice)

Volvic touch of juice lemon (the cloudy one)

Are you spotting a theme here by any chane?!

prettywhiteguitar · 26/11/2013 20:50

Travel sickness bands for your wrists. This was the only way I could walk down the high st without bending over with nausea at every bakery and teenager (lynx used to set me off)

Peacenquiet2 · 27/11/2013 05:05

I really feel for all you ladies, ive never suffered any sickness but my sister did with both hers and she swore by plain old soda water, said it helped settle things down. Really hope it passes for you soon op.

sonlypuppyfat · 27/11/2013 05:58

I've never had morning sickness and I've 3 DCs but I remember living on fanta because my beloved tea made me want to heave.

Charotte31 · 27/11/2013 09:10
