Pregnancy bras ...aka anyone else got HUGE boobs?

When is the right time to invest in pregnancy bras? I'm 10+5 and boobs are huge! I'm assuming pregnancy bras aren't the most attractive of things which is why I haven't yet hot footed it to m&s (although boobs spilling out isn't the most attractive either tbh)

You can get some nicer ones these days, though not necessarily from M&S, although their slightly padded non-wired (not pregnancy-specific) bras are cute. Try looking online at www.figleaves.com. I'm nearly 29 weeks and still in my regular bras and eagerly awaiting the arrival of the phenomenal pregnancy cleavage that I was promised!

If you're busting out of your normal bras its probably worth investing in some of those back extender clips before shelling out for new bras, they're only a few quid off eBay and might sort you out for a few months.

sports bras. cheap from primark and supermarkets and a whole lot of support.

What size are you? If your D cup+ then I'd advise going to Bravissimo and getting a fitting. They are excellent and very helpful with maternity advice. I found I was getting uncomfortable at 10weeks but had another growth spurt at about 1/16weeks. I waited until I was 17 weeks and couldn't breathe in my old bras before eventually admitting defeat. I can't tell you how much better I feel now I have something that fits properly! They gave me a bra that should adjust comfortably for further growth so I am hoping I won't need to invest in further underwear until I get fitted for a nursing bra at 38/39weeks. Good luck!

I'm about 12 weeks and have gone up two cup sizes... 30E now!!! Bf's loving it lol Wink , but I sympathise - it's not the most comfortable! Personally, I've just bought some bigger bras, and that's worked well for me. I'd be careful about back extenders as they don't make the cups bigger - so, for me, as I haven't put on any weight, they'd just make the situation worse; it's bigger cups I need. I second the Bravissimo recommendation - the staff in my local one are wonderfully friendly and helpful Smile

I'm still wearing underwired bras (two cup sizes bigger than usual) at 20 weeks. I'm a 34gg so not in a hurry to lose the underwired support!!

summerbaby2014 · 25/11/2013 15:52

I was a C cup before, still not been measured recently. I think I'm 1 or 2 cup sizes bigger now, the back size hasn't changed. Something with some adjustability would be great, I have no idea if they will shrink back down or get even bigger!
Probably time to go shopping :)

By 8 weeks I had gone from 34DD to 34F. My normal bras were sooo uncomfortable that I found I was only wearing them when I had to leave the house.

I bought an non-wired bra from M&S, not exactly flattering but actually not as bad as I was expecting, and it is really comfy.

I am now almost 11 weeks and pretty sure I've grown again, though not uncomfortable in this bra yet. I reckon I'll try Bravissimo sometime soon, M&S didn't have a great deal of choice.

MightilyOats · 25/11/2013 20:36

Avoid M&S like the plague, they don't fit you properly (woman who measured me wouldn't touch me except with the tape measure) Hmm

Bravissimo are brilliant, you will probably find you are smaller in the back and bigger in the cup than M&S fit, and that will support you better. They work from the provisobit.ly/I2z65B that it fits on the tightest hook so you have room to expand as your ribs expand.

My M&S maternity bras offered v little support and lasted me about a fortnight, so a complete waste of money. Stick with bravissimo tho as although boobs are now a different shape they remained humongous Grin (28F ATM and growing as pg with no.2!)

MightilyOats · 25/11/2013 20:37

Autocorrect now putting links in? Odd.

Littleroobe · 25/11/2013 20:43

I recommend Bravissimo too. I've gone up to a K cup (with a little growth room) and actually don't feel like my boobs are at knees!

AnythingNotEverything · 25/11/2013 22:45

If you normally go to M&S and they think you're a C cup, go to bravissimo. You're almost certainly more like a D/E and most likely F/G now!

They fitted me throughout my pregnancy in underwired bras to the end - from a 32G up to a 34J! They've now sorted me out with non wired nursing bras and gave been brilliant from day one.

Avoid M&S and remember you can wear wired bras, as long as they fit.

AnythingNotEverything · 25/11/2013 22:47

And to answer your question, I was fitted at 8 and 27 weeks for normal bras, then 38 weeks and 2 weeks after birth for nursing bras.

Bravado do great crop top style bras which are perfect for sleeping in if you're sore.

HomeHypno · 26/11/2013 07:47

Anyone wear those 'smooth' bras that are advised in telly? I have always needed underwire for 34Es but maybe there is somekind of 'anti-gravity' technology out there now Grin? I have been through a lot of bras to get that perfect seamless look under white t-shirts and buttoned shirts but in pregnancy my cup runneth over constantly and I still need a smoothing support vest on top of a t-shirt bra which still doesn't make it look smooth enough, just makes me too hot.
