Done to death I know, sorry! This will be my dc2 but I've had to buy a new pram and frankly found it a total minefield this time round. Last time I just bought one I liked the look of (an Xcursion, cheap, it was crap), so this time I've done my research. We've gone for a bugaboo chameleon3. Dp had a mini coronary when he saw the price tag. I hope we've made the right choice and that this one will actually last.

To be fair I've heard a lot of good things about the bugaboos and you're better off spending the money to get something that'll last incase you have a dc3.

I'm 39+2 with dc1 and choosing a pushchair drove me near insane there's so many! In the end we went around a couple of shops pushing the display models around and went with quite a nice Silvercross one which just felt right for us really, and I'm thinking it'll still be good for if we have a dc2, so I'm not too fussed about the expense Grin.

stargirl1701 · 24/11/2013 08:32

We got a Stokke Xplory. It was the best thing we bought, hands down. We still use it everyday (DD is 14 months).

vj32 · 24/11/2013 09:50

We have a M&P big Ultima travel system and a BJCMGT from DS so don't need to buy anything. Expecting another HUGE baby so most of the fashionable prams are no good anyway!

thecakeisalie · 24/11/2013 11:20

I love the M&P ultima with the excel base. We had a second hand one for ds1 only paid £100 for it and it was fantastic. We used it so much it broke before ds2 arrived (not surprising as it was second hand) and we bought a brand new M&P Mylo. I'm in 2 minds about the mylo its a good pram for urban areas and turns well but its just not as solid as the ultima, I regret buying a new mylo and wish we'd bought a new ultima.

So we have the Mylo still for dc3 but really tempted to pick up a second hand pram before April. I've heard good things about Bugaboos but the price really puts me off. I hate the look of the stokke xplory its looks like an office chair with a baby seat on it and its soooo expensive!

DiscoBiscuits · 24/11/2013 12:09

BabyJogger City Versa. We were pretty constricted on our choice as our house has narrow hallways so anything with a wide wheel base such as the Bugs or Quinnys was totally out. Also, I wanted something that was easy to fold one handed and had a single bar handle rather than the 2 separate stroller type handles (husband has a long term shoulder injury which often leaves him one handed) but that could be parent facing for as long as possible. The Versa seems to tick all those boxes better than anything else I could find. It's coming on Monday and I'm a bit over excited about it.

SaucyJack · 24/11/2013 12:24

We got a Kiddicare Fizz pramette (identical to the Zezu) in the half-price sale.

I am delighted with it. The seat unit folds up from a traditional carrycot into a pushchair seat, and it also faces either way. It's a really funky colour too.

The only downside is that it's roughly the size and weight of the average family car, but as it was so cheap I'll be more than happy to swap it for a lightweight stroller when DD3 is a toddler.

PrammyMammy · 24/11/2013 12:29

We bought the new Silver Cross sleepover in Elegance all black.
We had a Hesba for my dd but sold it when we moved home not expecting another dc so soon. The silver cross seems to tick all the same boxes though.

SunnyL · 24/11/2013 12:32

I've got the bugaboo. My mother was a star and bought it. There was a Mothercare own brand pram that looked remarkably similar and was about half the price but the suspension wasn't as great. We live in the country and the bugaboo has been brilliant on all the farm tracks and cinder paths round us.

Another bonus is the pram base is nice and long. DD is on the 99th percentile and is almost 6 months. I'm not sure she would have fit in some of my friends prams - her legs would have been hanging out the end.

froubylou · 24/11/2013 12:36

Mothercare extreme for me.

Wanted something that would do a bit of off roading and was a good size to last a couple of years. We have ponies and this pram will be used for yard and shows once the weather turns again. From experience you need 2 prams in action otherwise you are forever scrapping mud and horseshit off your wheels when you want to go somewhere non horsey.

Will get a maclaren April time.

Got a good deal on it. 140 quid from mothercare outlet.

Was v.v.v. shocked by the prices on some prams when I started looking. My car cost less than some of them lol. Each to their own and if you can afford it and want it, its up to you.

Only1scoop · 24/11/2013 12:39

Stokke xplory love it....especially great for tall pushers! Smile

bluebeanie · 24/11/2013 13:27

Uppababy Vista. It is about 600, but I loved the fact that it was one price all in (minus the pretentious coffee cup holder dh insisted spending 20 quid on). It is lovely and light, turns easily, has loads of storage space and is simple to fold.

Anothermrssmith · 24/11/2013 14:05

I swear you need a degree for buying a pram, its so bloody complicated! Why do you have to buy everything separately, just give me everything and tell me the bloody price!

Anyway,we have the mamas and papas sola (or will have, gets delivered on Thursday),its really lightweight which was a big plus for us as live in a first floor flat so will be lugging it up stairs all the time. Plus it's really easy to fold, change from car seat to carry cot etc.

Tea1Sugar · 24/11/2013 14:33

Yeh the £799 price tag was hard to swallow, and that's with a free maxi cosi car seat! It better bloody last!

OP posts:
Cannotbelieveit · 24/11/2013 14:36

Currently have the babystyle oyster for DS1, it fits the maxi cosi car seat we have, has the pushchair part (from 6 months to 3 years old) and we also had the carrycot which lasted him til 4 months (was too nosy to be lying down!)

All came to £550 or might have been under actually.

Sturdy but light enough for me to lift 2 weeks after EMCS, so easy to steer/fold etc

However DS2 is a bit of a surprise (due April) so we will have to change to oyster max as there will only be a 12 month age gap Wink

missmargot · 24/11/2013 14:37

Jane Trider, we live in the country and wanted a sturdy pram for dog walking etc and this had the best reviews for using on rough ground. We got a great deal on a package with carry cot and car seat.

EeyoreIsh · 24/11/2013 14:41

I was adamant I wouldn't spend £££ on a pram, but then realised there wasn't really much choice for me as I'm tall. We've not bought it yet but we'll get an uppababy vista. £600 new, so I'm looking on eBay for a second hand one.

wispaxmas · 24/11/2013 15:40

To be honest, prams are the first thing we thought about, and as we have a big strong dog who pulls at the lead, I definitely wanted something all terrain so we could simply do off lead walks in the woods with her. We went into John Lewis and mothercare and tested out a few prams just on the shop floor, and came away loving the bugaboo buffalo. It was so easy to steer, had the massive sun shade, big under basket, and was the easiest to fold and unfold of all the all terrain ones we tried.

Then I found out my brother and his wife have one in Toronto. They have dogs as well and got it for the same reason we want it, and their baby is only 6 weeks old, but already they couldn't live without it.

My other brother and his wife have the chameleon and love it. They got it when their first son was born back in 2011 and it's still going strong with son #2!

My sister got a much cheaper pram, less sturdy chassis, tiny wheels, etc. I don't remember what it was called, but it was light and perfect for her as she drives everywhere with her son.

AFergie · 24/11/2013 16:43

We bought the bugaboo Cameleon and it is so so good. We had an older version for our first baby and now bought the latest version. Was so happy the first time round :)

TobyLerone · 24/11/2013 17:23

Stokke Xplory. Ridiculously expensive, but it looks cool!

TransatlanticCityGirl · 24/11/2013 17:38

We bought a Stokke Xplory. It's not a buggy I would recommend because while there are many many positives about this buggy, it fails big time on safety. The brake is very flimsy and prone to break entirely, which makes it unsuitable for bus rides. When DD was 10 weeks old, I let go of the buggy for a minute while texting on the bus. The bus went around the roundabout way too fast, the buggy flipped over upside down, with baby still in it. We ended up in A&E via ambulance - thankfully DD was unhurt.
Stokke replaced the chassis for us, and about 10-12 months later the brake went again, and I had to hold it steady on the bus as even with the brake on it was rolling all over the place.

Shortly after Stokke replaced the chassis for the 2nd time, we put the buggy in storage in favour of a smaller collapsable and more secure buggy for the nursery run. I wouldn't be able to use this buggy right now, as I'm pregnant for no. 2 and would rather sit down than stand holding on to the Stokke for dear life.
I'm considering buying a Bugaboo Bee for next baby. We'll use the Stokke for walking around, shopping trips etc, but not on the bus.

marzipanned · 24/11/2013 17:45

I found pram selection such a faff I eventually told myself I'd buy the first one on gumtree that (a) cost less than £200 (b) was in okay nick (c) didn't have crap reviews.

Thus I have ended up with an icandy apple. Baby not due til Feb so I don't know if it's going to be any good or not, but looks like it'll do the trick and only set me back £150.

TheFantasticFixit · 24/11/2013 18:19

Pregnant with number 2 as well, have DD who will be 2 on Friday. We have the Donkey ready to go, but will prob downgrade once DD1 is walking more often and longer distances) to a Bugaboo Bee for DD2. The great thing about Bugaboos Are that they really hold their value so while initial outlay is £££ you should be able o re out at least 2/3 of that selling it on.

annalea85 · 24/11/2013 18:25

We have just ordered the mamas and Papas zoom. It hasn't arrived yet but it has had good reviews.

NomDeClavier · 24/11/2013 18:29

We have BJCM with a carrycot and a Silver Cross Tenby and it suits out lifestyle perfectly. I use a sling if we're going anywhere even remotely pram unfriendly.

fluffyraggies · 24/11/2013 18:42

Was going to get an icandy strawberry, but just couldn't justify the expense. We needed the whole set up - a carrycot, pushchair, car seat and base. Lots of £££££

So - did research on MN pushchair reviews and went instead for the Graco Evo. In lovely scarlet and black.

By sheer luck when we took the plunge and ordered it online from Mothercare they just launched a deal - carrycot for free (usually £100) when you bought the pushchair, £75 off the pushchair itself, 15% off all online orders over £100, plus a staff discount code from a family member - another £60 off.

Woo Hoo! Whole set for about £300 Grin
