Hi ladies, this is my second pregnancy and I have a question,

Why does my belly go really hard and tender sometimes it feels like my belly is about to split open (its always at the same time every evening!?!) makes me so uncomfy and miserable because I can't walk/sleep etc etc and then sometimes my belly is soft and fine and I can move around and walk fine? Why?? I never had this with my previous pregnancy.

Thanks x

Is it Braxton hicks?

gamerchick · 23/11/2013 09:45

Braxton hicks I would think.

LittlePeaPod · 23/11/2013 09:47

Yep does sound like braxton hicks. I have had them on and off since 26 weeks. MW 34 weeks and they are getting stronger and becoming painful..

FrankelInFoal · 23/11/2013 09:48

Sounds like Braxton Hicks. I haven't has any yet but the lady running our antenatal class keeps describing them so we know what they are when they happen!

I'm only 22 weeks but this happens to me sometimes. My bump goes so, so tight and everything is just uncomfortable. I put my hands on it and it is so taut that I worry something is wrong. Sometimes I even struggle to raise my arms above my head because of how tight it feels, almost like my skin just will not stretch any further!! At other times though my bump is all soft and wobbly....it is just bizarre Smile

Definitely braxton hicks... Uterus practicing... can happen all the way through pregnancy. If you start to get pain with them - rather than just bloody uncomfortable - speak to your midwife.

lovelilies · 23/11/2013 20:56

Yup, Braxton Hicks. I get LOADS, am 33 weeks tomorrow Grin

BlackholesAndRevelations · 23/11/2013 21:10

Braxton hicks for sure! Mine have started hurting now, at 36 weeks and third baby. They're worst when I'm thirsty or have been running around here and there so a rest and a drink usually helps! It is a very strange feeling though.

gamerchick · 23/11/2013 21:59

You get them all the way through pregnancy just usually you don't feel it.

But yes overdoing it and dehydration can bring them on.. you really have to look after yourself.
