booking in with Mw - first timer - what questions should I have thought of?

Hi
I'm 7w+5 and have my booking in with Mw tomorrow.

I'm a first timer and feel unprepared. I've seen lots of posts with people mentioning they had lots to discuss with their Mw - but I've haven't thought of many questions.

I don't want to not ask anything and then think of everything once I've walked out the door and don't have an appoint for a couple of months!

so far I have:

  • flu jab
  • double check my folic acid and thyroid medicines
  • check how often I'll need a blood test to check thyroid
  • mention breathlessness and increased heartbeat (without cause) just to confirm it's normal

but that's it!
Can anyone tell me the other sensible things I should be thinking about and asking?
I've already had to pick my hospital (as you see different mw for each of my two local choices) and know I'm likely to be put under consultant care due to thyroid/bmi.

if your on thyroxine then you should be referred to the hosptial for consultant care. Thyroid levels change and need to be more closely monitored during pregnancy (not that its happened for me, but i think once they make sure your levels are ok they pretty much leave you alone)

Remember to take your family's medical history stuff with you tomorrow.

There's a big list of stuff that they'll ask about for both you and your partner.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes - Ive quizzed DH (not that he's that useful!). And we can't ask mil as she'll be suspicious of all the questions!

Id forgotten I need to take my SW forms with me. Oh and my early scan letter.

I would imagine all those points you have will be brought up anyway, without you having to ask. After my 8 week booking appt which was 1/2 hour long. I had a 10 week check also which started the blood testing but was asked at this appt for any questions as I presume you'll be given a folder of book and leaflets to look through as I was.

I was initially put under consultant care for u/a thyroid, but was told as long as my gp and midwife did my bloods every trimester and adjusted meds accordingly I wasn't to go back to consultant. Suppose it depends on your levels and control.
