I could use some advice on this! I can get away with quite a bit at work, as I manage my own time and appointments. This means colleagues and bosses haven't had much opportunity to witness my nausea, exhaustion, and preggo brain!

However, a few things are coming up. Next week I have a lot booked in and feel a lot of pressure to perform as normal, but I just don't know if I can. Then there is the Xmas party, where a work friend is insisting her partner drive us as she wants to drink... It'd be easier for me to drive, but how do I explain this?!

I am 8 + 4 and due to infertility issues, I want to keep it quiet so I don't have to backtrack if it ends in MC. Also, our work environment is not confidential, so when I tell my boss, it will need to be when it is ok for everyone to know!!

So what do you think? And what did you all do?

Thanks buttercup, they were fine! Guess I'm not the first and won't be the last!

Told my boss at 18 weeks last time. Am currently 12 weeks and will probably tell her at about 16 weeks, it's not that I don't want everyone to know even she's just a bitch who makes my life a misery as it is!

I told work just before 10 weeks. I had a 3 day team away day which I had to go on last week, which meant long tiring days and having to do a presentation. As well as activities like clay pigeon shooting to contend with! In the end the first day was so tiring that I was off sick (all day morning sickness) on the 2nd day, and ended up missing my presentation. My boss was really supportive, someone else stepped in to present for me and it was all ok. The clay pigeon shooting was actually quite fun!

I think telling people early on a needs to know basis is ok. I was a little worried that it might scupper my chances for promotion at the end of the year (fingers crossed not), but it's been useful to have someone at work who understands and can help sort the time off etc with minimum of fuss.

I told them at 16 weeks - I hadn't developed a bump or anything before then, and given it had taken us a long time and some treatment to conceive, I wanted to wait until after the scan etc.

That still gives them plenty of time to plan cover and the like.

Oh that's good cannot Smile

I could imagine my boss would be furious. Hmm

Hi Hun I told work really early about 4 or 5 weeks I told my manager and the main manager on condition they keep it quite until 12 weeks.

I only told them early as I work 6 days and long hours and needed time off for appointments, plus I was running back and forward to the toilet throwing up all day.

It was the right decision for me as they supported me a lot and were quite understanding. And they did keep it quite for me until I was ready to tell every body else.

Some times in my job it requires lifting and things that would put me in danger so they helped me with those things.

I'm 20 weeks now and my boss only the other week asked me if I was feeling better and if I was unwell at any time to tell some one.

I've been quite lucky work have been really supportive

SweetPea86 · 26/11/2013 10:12

JAYKAY I've got to friends one who told work around 20 weeks. Not sure why one of them waited that long but my other friend had a promotion to manager only because the lady who she got the job from had left due to having a baby so she didn't want to say out straight away.

I don't think u have to notify work untill 16 weeks before your due date. But it could be wrong.

I struggled to keep it quite I ended up telling every one around 10 weeks lol I was to excitable lol

lauren6283 · 26/11/2013 12:16

I didn't say anything until 12 weeks because I knew what it would be like, if I told one manager the whole place would know.
You could always say you are on antibiotics and cannot drink?

AnnaBanana25 · 26/11/2013 17:54

Ive actually got a proper excuse now, as I am going to have plans the next day! So no drinking for me, legitimately!

My manager has really pissed me off, as I sent a meeting request for 2 weeks time ( to break the news), and I got a reply asking if we couldn't just talk on the phone. Sent email back saying if I needed to talk on the phone, I would have called!!

I'm now getting nervous as I am feeling so exhausted and irritable at the smallest thing... I have 3 very long hard days next week and just don't know how to handle them. I will need serious willpower to get through.

Oh, while I'm on a rant, can I just say that its my birthday today. Ive worked all bloody day, and got a parking ticket to top it off.

Sod work, I need a holiday!!!!!!!!!
