Feel bruised 'down there'!

I'm 30 weeks tomorrow and for the last few days my downstairs area has been feeling bruised and sore. Can't think what's caused it - haven't even DTD with DP for weeks so it's definitely not that!
Anyone else got any experience with this? Should I be worried?

Welcome to another wonderful phase of pregnancy Wink I've spent 8 weeks feeling like I've been kicked in the groin repeatedly, so sore and feeling bruised. My midwife said it is likely being caused at first by baby's head bopping in and out of the cradle of pubic bone and increased blood flow to the area. Im now 38+2 and baby is 2/5 palpable so i feel like ive got a bowling ball lodged in there! Of course, if you are feeling worried about it or its causing problems do give your own MW a call.

I feel the same (21 weeks), I thought it was SPD related and was planning on asking the midwife about it. Didn't get it in the last pregnancy, but kind of reassured to know I'm not alone.

Is it not a varicose vein? They can be a bugger when heavily pregnant.

Could be a lovely combination of baby being low plus vulval varicose veins. Lie down, get a mirror and have a good look. Be warned, it might be blue or even purple, but that is due to increased blood flow. See if you're swollen- some cold compresses can help. My midwife did also suggest some tight pants with a couple of sanitary towels in them to give additional support.

If it's varicose veins you'll most likely see bumpy ridges that will go 'go in' when pressed. Theses are your veins. It's worth talking about with your midwife just for them to make a note of. They sometimes keep an extra eye on you during labour as the pressure can sometimes be a problem, but I think this is fairly unusual

Sounds like it could be onset of spd. Does it hurts when u stand on one leg, like when getting dressed? Is it worse when you do lots of walking? Mine is ramping up now at 20wks and had it bad withmy first. Joys of pregnancy

Agreed, sounds like SPD. Best to see GP and see if they will refer you for physio asap

Midwife can usually refer to physio too, but tends to be unhelpful in my experience. If you can afford it then osteopathy is great.
