Daybed in the nursery?

DD is 3 weeks old. She arrived a couple of weeks early so the nursery isn't quite finished.

We have enough room for what was originally planned to be some sort of chair (rocking, nursing, armchair - not decided) and a storage unit / bookcase. On reflection, I'm now thinking it might be better to have a daybed in there - for those inevitable occasions one if us have to sleep with her... Or us this setting ourselves up to be soft when it comes to sleep training?

So far, she's sleeping quite well - only waking for 3 hourly feeds so I'm not anticipating issues and I know it's WAY too early to be sleep training but we need to finish furnishing the nursery so hoped to get some input from you guys... What's best - a chair and storage or a daybed?

Chair and storage. You can always chuck a mattress on the floor if necessary, but you don't need a bed there permanently.

Don't forget DD will be 6 months before she moves into the nursery, and may well be sleeping through the night by then.

Congrats!

Never had a bed in dds room and never needed one. But im.one of those people who thinks if you do it, they then need you to do it and subsequently you have to teach them not to need it.

We had a cheap Ikea futon in ours - it was a god send. Low enough for baby to grasp and pull himself up on as he got use of his feet/ legs. Wonderfully easy to pull out at night should we require it. Sofa at all other times.

Congratulations.

Like firey we have a sofa bed. It's never been slept on since Dd moved into the nursery. SHe's now eight months. But it's lovely to feed on and I change on it too as it's a bit less far to fall! Enjoy your newborn :)
