Just wondering really if any of you had any experience of applying for MA?

I'm pregnant with DC2 and will need to apply for it this time due to a change in employers during my pregnancy.

I have no experience of applying for anything via the GOV and wondered if anyone else had anything hints/tips etc

Thanks Smile

I had MA during first mat leave and will again this time as I'm self employed. The claim form is here. I found it surprisingly easy.

Applied for it with DD1 and will do again this time. Would have done it already but forgot to get my MAT/B1 earlier on!

It is not difficult, honestly.

It looks complicated, but it's not. The online guide is helpful. Ask here if you have any specific questions. You can apply from 28 weeks I think.

It's really easy, you need your matb1 form off of the midwife, fill out the form, send them together. Bobs your uncle, it's seriously easy,'. And you do it through the JobCentre. I gave them a call before hand to make sure all was well to apply and they confirmed it was and for me to go ahead.

It was quite straightforward, the form is available online then you just send it in the post. You do need quite a few payslips though. Obviously pick the ones where you got the most pay!

Blurry29 · 21/11/2013 12:10

Would there be a huge issue if you don't has payslips? Is there a way around that?

Due to a house move/damage etc I don't have them and would find it quite difficult to get hold of I think. But even though I've had a change of employers I have worked the whole time (don't know if that counts for anything)

Many thanks Smile

You only need 15 weeks worth of payslips so depending on how far pregnant you are and when you intend to claim, you may be able to only use payslips from your new job. You will need to provide them as proof of earnings though.
