I have a dd who is 10 months old, and is the absolute light of my life, just found out this morning I'm pregnant again! We had been trying for a month!! I thin we conceived on 29th October, so il have two under two..
Please come and tell me how wonderful your close aged children are?!
We expected it to take a bit longer than a month!!

When my dd was born last year I had a 5 year old, a 3 year old and a 1 year old, so 4 5 and under. The closest gap is 18 months between my second and third, the others are two years apart. I found each time I was pregnant I doubted I would cope and was worried about it all, but each time I reassured myself that within minutes of the baby arriving you couldn't imagine life without them. The best thing is all the dynamics between the children - they all play together, fight as well obviously, but it is really good for them to have such different relationships, and the closer they are in age, the easier it is to do things as a family to please everyone. Pregnancy when you have little ones that aren't walking yet is tough, but prepares you well for when the baby arrives. Good luck op

Congratulations! 11 months between my youngest two girls and they are best friends, I imagine a bit like twins as they both enjoy similar things and go to nursery together (they're now 2.5 and 3.5). It's been hard work I won't lie although no harder than the 2 year gap it had between my eldest 2.
They fight and wrestle constantly, argue over my knee, toys, tv you name it but when I see them chatting together and being fiercely protective over each other it's all worth it.
We have a lot of fun too.

PicnicPie · 18/11/2013 13:51

I was also thinking of getting by with just my pushchair and a sling, but somehow I don't think that'll last. I'm assuming a double pushchair is necessary?

We've done the same with our DDs clothes. They're all in loft in case we have another girl.

I think it'll be hard work but others have said they'll have each other to keep them busy and pass the time and play with when they're a bit older.

When I got the +ve result on Saturday stupidly I felt like I was betraying DD ( not that she'd have a clue!). I suppose that at any age having a second child would make you feel that way.

Clobbered · 18/11/2013 13:56

11 months between my eldest 2 and it was exhausting but great - they are very close, even as adults, and I just remember a blur of feeding, changing and sleeping. We used to get up and have breakfast then go back to bed together for morning naps - bliss.... Wouldn't have had it any other way.

killpeppa · 18/11/2013 14:17

I have a 'my child sienta'
I luffs it lots

Bubbless · 18/11/2013 14:49

I'm thinking of getting a double that can also be a single and a super good sling, maybe something like the ergo baby's that can be used until they are 2? I like the baby jogger city select, so if we are doing long days out it can be a double, and popping to town for a few bits can be a single and a sling? Am I crazy? I'm crazy... Baby brain at 2 weeks pregnant!!

Get yourself to a slingmeet or sling library. Not all slings are created equal. I still carry my 5 year old at times.

For pushchairs have Look at bestbuggy.co.uk

BabsAndTheRu · 18/11/2013 16:55

We have got the mothercare double buggy, great pram but huge, if I was to do it all again I would have gone for the mini city jogger. You shouldn't need two cots, at 18months DC2 was fine in a bed. He actually went into a bed at 15 months as kept climbing out the cot. We had loads of pillows on the floor round the bed just in case.

Bubbless · 18/11/2013 17:21

Dd has a cot bed, so we will Deff need another cot unless they are bunking together ;)
Does anyone here have the baby jogger city select? I like all te combos!

Hollyjokes · 18/11/2013 17:41

I've been thinking about buggies and cots too. I may do sling for baby with DD still in the buggy at first, and then buy a twin buggy closer to the winter. I'm not sure if I would want a tandem buggy or one where they sit side by side (I can imagine the latter would be a struggle with narrow doorways?!) I'm planning on putting the baby in a Moses basket or crib at first and hope that by the time it's too small then DD will be ready for a toddler bed so I can reuse the cot. I also have all of DD's clothes saved so won't need to buy too much if it's a girl again.

Bubbles & picnic - come and join the antenatal clubs if you haven't already. I'm on the July one, which is pretty busy, and there's a couple of us with late July due dates who are posting on the August one too Smile

PicnicPie · 18/11/2013 18:53

Holly. I'm on the July thread, but its just so busy it's difficult to keep track.

Have either of you had any morning sickness? Ive had waves of nausea throughout the day. Before I tested, I was certain I was pregnant because of this. Im hoping it doesn't get too bad. I remember feeling sooooo tired in my first trimester so I've got no idea how I'm going to cope with the tiredness and trying to entertain DD. Luckily I'm on mat leave til February so I should be able to sleep and rest when DD naps in the day. I hope.

Hollyjokes · 18/11/2013 19:02

Picnic I'm still on mat leave at the moment too! When do you plan on telling work? No sickness for me yet, just on/off nausea. Really hoping that it doesn't get any worse. One of the great things about already having a little one is that I get to have an afternoon nap with her every day! Blush

PicnicPie · 18/11/2013 19:34

Well I go back in Feb so I'm going to tell my manager then, because by then I should have had my 12 week scan.

I'm only going back for 2 days a week so it won't be too difficult especially knowing that it'll only be for 5 months Smile. It's just the journey into central London which sucks.

I'm really excited about having a new born baby again. The early days with DD were really difficult for me because of BFing so I didn't really enjoy them as much as I should have.

Bubbless · 18/11/2013 21:24

holly- im not sure what to do about the buggy.... i think i want to get as much use out of the v. expensive double! but i like the idea of having a sling so if we are going short distances dd could walk (are they reliably good at walking at 19 months?!) and i could sling the baby? the slings are just so expensive.. even second hand!

im going to wait to join a club until i know properly when im due, when i was preg before i was in december club.. and ended up due in january!

no sickness for me yet, but by 6 weeks last time round i was in hospital with a drip because i was so ill..... so holding out that il have a wonderful pregnancy this time! i think i diserve it!

im not sure if i want to bf :(
it was so horrible last time, dd had tounge tie but noone noticed and i gave up feeling like a failure!

Hollyjokes · 18/11/2013 21:45

Bubbless I was hospitalised in my last pregnancy too, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, it was horrendous. This time I will be heading to the GP straight away to ask for anti sickness meds if I start to not be able to keep anything down. I'm really hoping that this pregnancy will be easier and I hope the same for you too.

I started the August antenatal club even though I'm due 27th July. There's only a few of us so far, all with late July due dates. I went very overdue with DD so I'm fully expecting to have an August baby but may still end up with July if I'm lucky! Come join us when you're ready Smile

Bubbless · 19/11/2013 08:17

I've still got a couple of tablets kicking around from last time, so I'm hoping to take those the min I feel ill.. I'm hoping with my track record they will be reasonable..
One dr at about 30 weeks told me that I didn't have hyperemesis.. I had heart burn, and sent me home with gaviscon...
I will do, seeing dr this morning so when it's confirmed (this is just a formalility isn't it? :/) il join!

OP posts:
PicnicPie · 19/11/2013 08:38

Sounds like you both had difficult pregnancies last time. I can't even begin to imagine what hyperemesis must be like, esp having a little one now.

Fingers crossed that we all have straightforward uncomplicated pregnancies!

Hollyjokes · 19/11/2013 10:28

Hope everything goes well at the doctors bubbless. I didn't see my GP, I was just booked straight in for my first MW appointment, which is in about 2 weeks. I still find it funny that they just take your word for it! Grin

Picnic thanks, I hope we all have problem free pregnancies too. I can imagine that it would be so much harder now that we already have a little one to look after. I'm hoping that being busy will make the pregnancy go quickly too but so far it isn't! I've known I'm pg for a week now but it seems more like a month! Smile

PicnicPie · 19/11/2013 10:33

Have you told anybody yet? I'm so tempted to tell my mum. May do when I see her next. Everyone else I will tell after 12 weeks. Or I may tell my close family at Christmas. We'll see....

I know, I remember going to the GP with my first pregnancy and feeling a bit [hmmm] that the Dr didn't check to see if I was. Just took my word for it.

I've got to see my GP on Thursday so she can then refer me to the midwife.

Hollyjokes · 19/11/2013 13:00

I told my best friend the other night and she has been sworn to secrecy! I haven't told my mum yet because I know she'll start fussing straight away, I will probably tell her over the next few weeks though, then tell the rest of the family at Christmas. I want to keep it low key though as I don't want work to know until after my 12wk scan, which will be about 2 weeks before I'm due to return anyway! Picnic do you know if you'll be getting the same benefits etc with work as you did first time around? I'm not sure how it works exactly when you return from mat leave already pregnant again!?

PicnicPie · 19/11/2013 14:36

Holly, my understanding is that you get the same benefits once you return. As long as you do return. I don't know though how they adjust it if you return part time, which is the situation I will be in. I'm assuming the benefits will not be as good. And I'm assuming it differs from company to company. Im yet to find out the details, but can't without setting alarm bells ringing!?!

BabsAndTheRu · 19/11/2013 16:14

Holly I returned from mat leave pregnant with DC3 and got the same benefits as the last time. So you should be okay. I was reallynervous about telling work but they were great and really supportive. Hopefully it will be the same for you.

Bubbless · 25/11/2013 19:37

sorry to ressurect an oldish thread, but a lot of people on here were roughly the same no. of weeks preg (now 6!)
ive just read that you can get a false posative, and that sometimes if you leave the test for too long before looking it can say your preg when you arnt......... now i did the test at 6am, chucked it on the side and crawled back into bed and went to sleep.. eventually checking it at 9am to see i was (faint line) pregnant...
im also now 2 1/2 weeks late on my period, please tell me im not being paranoid and that im pregnant? i would feel a bit silly dashing out now to buy another pregnancy test (will tomorrow!) but i cant stop thinking about it!

Hello i have the exact same gap as u my oldest is now 28 months and my youngest is 8.5 months - the first 6 months were a slog and i am now in the midst of terrible two's tantrums and jealousy but i have just managed to coordinate nap and bed times Wink and there is some glimmer of hope as they have started to interact in a nice way rather than the eldest hitting the youngest! I can see already the advantages of the toddler being persuaded to try a new food or di something when i say dd2 is doing it!Wink So all in all i think i will crack on and have a third as it is now managable xxx
