Random days of severe sickness - 9 weeks

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone else had this, I am about 9 weeks pregnant and since 4 weeks (when I found out) I have had 3 odd days (about 2 weeks apart from each other) of being extrememly ill. Sick all day and some diarrhoea. Not able to keep any food down. After this really bad day it seems to pass and then the rest of the time I am just nauseous, much like I was with my first pregnancy.

It seems a bit random! I had a scan at 7+4 and all seemed ok, which was after 2 of these very sick days.

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has had the same.

Hi sister. Sounds normal to me, during my first trimester I was pretty much like you, and had the odd day inbetween where I would feel normal and be able to function. So I've heard, with the sickness it comes on waves of a few or couple of days at a time. It's all to do with your placenta, and how it tries to feed the baby rather than your body but this doesn't tend to happen until at the earliest 16 weeks. Hang in there, and if you feel really crappy and can't keep anything down for more than 24 hours then get in contact with your gp or midwife. Congratulations though SmileThanks

I had random days of bad morning sickness, I put it down to hormone surges when baby was having a grow although I have no idea if that's right! I'm now 25 weeks with a healthy baby girl so whatever it was hasn't caused any problems :)

Thanks guys - hopefully it is normal. Just having a run-of-the-mill feeling eurgh day today rather than a debilitating one ;) Ah the first trimester. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences.
