I'm 38+5 with our first baby so due a week on Tuesday. Very excited but stressing as I feel there is so much to do before he/she arrives!

Mainly because we have been/are renovating our house so lots to tidy up. Most things are ready for baby now and I have washed all the clothes/bedding so just the moses basket stand to build.

I just feel the house is messy and wonder what the mw will think when she comes round post birth if things are messy (she is lovely though so part of me thinks she won't mind)

To top it off I have an OU assignment in next week as well.

Aargh please someone tell me it will be ok?!

As long as you are getting on with doing it dont worry! This will be me too but it will be because im lazy and havent made the effort to sort things out when I should have done. We are having loads of work done at home too and theres so much crap to sort out, I have got rid of 10 binbags from my spare room this weekend!

Am sure the midwives have seen it all and yours almost certainly wont be anywhere near the worst! Take time to relax and enjoy the final prep, it comes round all too quickly (as im realising now, time has never gone so fast!)

The Midwife will be more worried if your house is tidy! Mine told me she was always concerned by immaculate homes, as it suggested to her that new parents weren't getting their priorities right - so honestly do not worry about the state of your house. They've seen it all.

Honestly don't worry it will all be ok...

We were doing a house up when we were expecting dc4. It went disastrously wrong due to rising damp. Our living room was bare bricks when ds arrived - not even plaster on the walls!!

Canyou get a delay on the ou work? Although it will be hard to find the time with a newborn :) I would say put your feet up & relax. Take it easy, enjoy and rest

Thank you all for your reassurances! Much appreciated and good to know I'm not the only one in this situation (or has been!).

I think we'll just do our best and make sure the lounge and kitchen are clean. Maybe anyone who comments on the rest can be handed cleaning equipment Grin

With the OU work - I hadn't even thought of a delay so thanks for pointing that out bigbrick I emailed the tutor and explained everything and she emailed virtually straight back saying it was no problem and not to worry.

Feeling better already!

Good news. Do a quick clean about but most important is that you do nothing. You are all ready for your baby & a tidy house isn't required. I have good memories of lounging on the settee & reading when in the last weeks of pregnancy with my first.
