When do you start seeing your tummy move?

I'm 22 weeks today!!! Smile And yesterday I was relaxed, and laying down watching tv (and my tummy!) and I'm 99% sure I could see it moving...or am I going mad? I thought it would be too early to experience this. I have been having moment for a few weeks now, but the last 2 or so weeks they've been getting really regular and I know when to expect them Smile it's not like I can see a foot or something like that, just a quick blimp of something shifting about.

I didn't actually see any real tummy movement till I was about 30 weeks. You can't miss them, its like having snakes or a little alien in your belly... Also because the movements are so big you can flee, the scrapping/pushing/kicking of a foot, arm, knee, bum or head when it happens. Grin

I'm 25 weeks and have been able to see it for about 2 weeks so you're about the right stage of pregnancy for it :)

I'm 21 weeks with DC2. He's been wriggling for a while but my little alien belly started moving this morning. It took quite a bit longer with DC1 but he caused much hilarity for my work mate who was fascinated by the various body parts that would randomly stick out of my bump.

I started to feel movement at 15w, could be felt externally at 18 and I saw kicks at 19w. (2nd pregnancy). I think a lot depends on how lean you are at the belly and where the placenta is (this time mine is at the back, not in front of the baby)

K8eee · 17/11/2013 11:10

Well I've got an anterior placenta Hmm so I guess one good thing is the baby is slightly more protected. Thanks for the reassurance ladies! I don't feel such a nutter anymore Grin dh isn't patient enough to sit with his hand on my stomach yet. Yesterday I yelled at him to come and look but baby must've stopped putting on a show for the audience Sad

26 weeks and I've been seeing the kicks from the outside for a little while now. Just jumps and jiggles, not the weird snakey movements you get when they're massive :)

LittlePeaPod · 17/11/2013 11:36

K8ee I have an anterior placenta too. My MW and consultant explained that that's why the movements have taken so long to come through. Baby has a massive barrier to kick through before hitting my tummy. But the stronger and ginger they get the bigger the movements.. Grin

Thanks Peapod Smile thought that may have been the case! It's definitely been more active the last week or so. Can a baby be too active...?

Julietee that's exactly how mine are, nothing too prominent but I know it's there now Smile

K8ee when I got to about 26 weeks that's when I started thinking "yeap that was a move" rather than "I think that was a move". But don't worry by the time you get to 28/29/30 weeks you will start complaining about been uncomfortable because LO is moving or kicking or in an awkward position.. Grin.

With regards movements, sometimes she is really active (particularly about 30/60minutes after meal or having eaten/drunk something sweet). Definitely mostly active in the evening. Then other times she is quite but that can be because she has moved under the placenta so I can't feel the smaller movements. The placenta gets in the way, so to say. I had a scan the other week and she was really active but even though we could see her wriggling about, I couldn't feel anything because she was behind the placenta. That was a really strange experience. Grin

No matter how active the baby is, they have an incredible talent for hiding when someone else wants to look or feel.

My DH has no patience either.
