Just wondered what people's thoughts were on the whooping cough vaccine now being offered to pregnant women? Anyone had it, any side effects?

am getting it on monday. have debated about this have read alot into it seen the mixed views on here but decided to go for it the pros outweigh the cons. its not a live vaccine so side effects should be slight if any. everyone will have their opinions so just do whats right or feels right for you

I had it at thirty weeks. I thought about it carefully and read a lot about it. I figured that having an Autumn born baby, who wouldn't get his jabs until winter, it would be better to give him a head start. We also live in a city that has a relatively high incidence.

It didn't hurt at the time, and I only had some very mild pain at the injection site. No changes in baby movement, no changes in the way I was feeling. I realise people report different side effects, but I thought I'd share my experience.

I had it - I don't think I would forgive myself if my baby got it and I could have prevented it.

My arm was very sore for a few days, but other than that no other side effects.

ive just got over whooping cough it was awful, coughing till i was sick, and pulling chest muscles from coughing exertion.not pregnant but i can only imagine how much worse it would have been if i had of been. I bever realised that the vaccines we had as kids wore off so was suprised to get it. If i were pregnant again and it was offered i would have it but it is totally your choice as an individual

I ad the flu vaccine and the whooping ough vaccine on Thursday. I have had flu type symptoms but nothing unbearable. Different people react differently. With regards the whooping cough vaccine you get te same amount as a baby would get.

It's been offered to pregnant women for over a year now.

It's an inactivated vaccine also containing diphtheria, tetanus and polio.

It's the same vaccine given to pre-schoolers. You are also eligible for a flu vaccine if pregnant. Most women will have a sore arm, mild fever and feel a bit off colour for a day or two. It is unusual to get more severe side effects.
