Braxton Hicks - sign of overdoing it?

Probably sounds like a silly question because I know they're normal. But I've also read a few things suggesting regular/strong BH are/can be a sign of over-doing it. Anyone heard similar from an actual healthcare professional rather than Dr Google?!

Not from healthcare but personal experience. If I do lauds of walking or carrying bags they seem worse. Also dehydration seems to play a part so try drinking more water and see if it helps (worth a go as drinking more seems to be constant advice!)

Thanks. Don't know if it's something to worry about or just to be expected. Hmmm.

Yes, to the extent that my consultant signed me off work at 34w with DC1 and cited the strong BH as a sign that work was Just Too Much.

Sorry, that was yes to overdoing it, not to its being something to worry about.

Do less? Confused Or at least make sure you schedule regular rests and breaks.

My mw reckons that strong BH are correlated with easy third stage and reduced postpartum haemorrhage. Certainly I'd managed a physiological third stage within fifteen minutes of birth this time after nearly six months of noticeable BH.

Thanks Horatia. Am planning on leaving work fairly early - 30 weeks - but still 6 weeks to go. Will mention the BH to my midwife at the next appt.

I have been signed off because of painful BH.. I have been moving house so taken it easy wasn't an option at the time. I have been signed off since 31wks and all settled into new house. BH were so painful at times (esp in the evening) I really though this little one is on route!! It's also my 4th and never had this with my previous pregnancys. But I do rest now and all seems to have settled.
Are you over doing it?

highlove · 12/11/2013 08:55

Probably a bit, yes. Long hours and work v stressful at the moment. They're not massively painful but certainly uncomfortable and feel 'strong'. I'm only 23+1 so worried it's quite early to be getting them to this extent. But I'm a first timer so don't really know what's normal. And would willingly acknowledge that I'm paranoid - this baby took a very long time and a lot of medical intervention to be conceived.
