Double buggy. Any advice?

My dd will be just 2 when my baby arrives and I've decided a double buggy is a good idea as I like to get out a lot, even if it's just walking into town for half an hour. If my toddler is tired/stroppy/doesn't want to walk/it's raining I'll still be able to get out.
I'll buy second hand. So far the Phil & Teds seem most suitable. I like the cocoon thingy.

And advice gratefully received. Thanks.

I've got a Phil & teds as DS2 was only 21 months when DS3 arrived. It's great and still in great nick for when DS4 joins us Grin. Totally recommend...

I got a 2nd hand Phil and teds on ebay and it seems pretty good so far (only used as single as not due til Christmas). I was using a quinny buzz and the P&Ts is heavier and harder to steer one handed but not as difficult as I'd imagine a double to be. Might be a bigger adjustment if you've been used to a lightweight stroller though.

Depending on what you already have you might be able to adapt.

Our DDs are 2 years apart, we have an iCandy Peach and just bought the adaptors and smaller seat/carry cot to go on our existing chassis (which was the expensive bit anyway iirc). So DD1's original seat sits in front and the smaller carry cot/seat goes behind, rather than side by side.

We got all the extra bits we needed on eBay in a massive bargain.

Thanks for this info.
I currently use a Bugaboo Chameleon which I can use a buggy board with only if using the car seat, not if I'm using the carry cot (this is annoying). Bu, at least I'm used to a big heavy buggy.

The P&Ts seem to go for around £125 on eBay rather than £400 new.
I'm assuming it fits easily enough into a normal sized car boot? I have a Golf.

I think we are going to get the Baby Jogger City Select. I prefer it to the Phil and Teds because there are loads of ways to configure it to suit your children.

It is also really easy to use as a single too if you are just out with one or your DD decides to walk.

Thanks for the tip Pasta. I'll check that one out too. The good thing about P&T is that there's loads of them on eBay!
I think we'll only use it for a short while as when the baby is big enough for the Bugaboo buggy seat dd1 will be 2.5 and will use the buggy board or walk. She's already a good walker now. :)

I have a city select and it's fan and great how many different combinations you can do, I'm a cm and have different kids to put in it but ds3 goes in his car seat/carrycot and its lovely to push. It can be a single too which is handy if you only have one child with you.

Just a word of warning about 2.5 yr olds walking - they're not that reliable (the toddlers, that is). They may get tired or you just may need to strap them in if you've got to get somewhere at faster than toddler pace. I was out with my cousin the other day when her 3.5 yr old kicked off. She only had the single pushchair, having just got rid of her p&t, and boy did she regret it with a tantruming pre-schooler and 2 yr old to herd...

Thanks sleepthief. There really is no accounting for random toddler strops!
