Aw congratulations Grin

I had severe sickness with my 2 and it's rubbish so I really feel for you.

Just try to eat little and often of whatever you can and drink plenty too.

I was on meds as my sickness was so bad but I still managed an almost 10ibs baby so don't worry your baby isn't getting what it needs.

Hopefully it will pass in the next few weeks for you but if you're worried speak to your midwife (if you have one yet) or gp.

You could try travel sickness bands?

(Feeling a bit broody nowShock)

Hi,

Thanks! :) I am excited, just want to get the sickness out the way so i can actually enjoy being pregnant!

I havent got a midwife yet, as i only found out earlier this week and am going to the doctors on Tuesday.

My partner told me about the bands, so i will defiantly get one of those!
I will give everything a go with they way i have been feeling!

Just quickly im still quite confused on foods you can/cant eat, is there anywere i could find this information in detail?

thanks :)

Congratulations! Have you got a metallic taste in your mouth? If so try and cut out dairy for a bit and see if that helps. It doesn't have to be for long but that really helped me. Acupuncture was also a big help and the anti sickness bands worked brilliantly for me too.

Food wise you can still eat most things. If you google the question lots of info will come up but mainly it is no mould ripened cheese. Damn it - I love Brie!

it's awful, sorry you're going through it! Please don't worry about baby, they take what they need from your body's reserves. You'll get through it and find ways to cope Smile

Pop over to the hyperemesis support thread, lots of ladies go through the same thing. Try to see it as a good thing, the thinking is some women get sickness in healthy pregnancies because of high hormone levels.
But don't panic about baby, stay as hydrated as possible, take your vitamins and try to eat what you can, you'll feel rubbish before baby does, they act like a little parasite (lovely, eh!).
If you've booked in with a MW then do mention it to her so she can keep an eye on you, if not then talk to your GP.
Foods rules are pretty much no uncooked meat, unpasturised diary/meat products and keep your alcohol intake moderate. Hard boiled eggs are safest, but most eggs will be fine as in uk all chickens get vaccinated.
Congratulations on your pregnancy, I hope the sickness passes before too long.

Congratulations Smile

Have you tried eating little and often? I found that if I even started to feel hungry I would feel even more sick; I had to keep myself topped up with little snacks every couple of hours to stave off the worst of the nausea and exhaustion. I also had to stop eating various things as they turned my stomach- including coffee, and pretty much all fruit and veg Shock! Once I moved into the second trimester my sickness reduced and my appetite became more normal again.

If you're concerned about the nutritional content of your diet, it might be worth taking Pregnacare or similar? It contains folic acid too.

I think that the NHS choices website has an up to date list of "safe" foods.
