Sickness replaced by tummy pains :-(

9 weeks pregnant now, and my sickness isn't too bad any more as long as I'm careful what I eat and rest for a while after eating, but I'm getting horrendous tummy pains instead Sad. Anyone had this/know what I can do? It's not so much the intensity that's the problem - I mean it's definitely far short of severe pain - but it's a really annoying pain that I can't ignore, makes it difficult to stand up straight/stretch out, and nothing makes it better - not codeine, not paracetamol, not a hot water bottle. Took me over four hours to get to sleep last night because of it and I actually cried when DP came to bed and tried to cuddle me cos I hurt so much I didn't want to be touched at all Sad. Can anyone help?

Where abouts on your tummy is it? Could be digestive system related, or could be your uterus stretching (feels like period pains).

I'm not sure Confused - I know I should know, but it just kinda feels like all up the middle rather than anywhere in particular...

Trapped wind? I never get it usually but have been in agony with it in pregnancy.

At 9 weeks your uterus is still inside your pelvis so less likely to be pregnancy related if it hurts all over. Agree with Hett it could be trapped wind, very painful! Try peppermint tea, pregnancy yoga, and a warm bath.

Op it could be round ligament pain which is normal in pregnany. I still get it and I am now 32 weeks. I would speak to your MW if the pain is severe. Better safe than sorry. Also are we aloud to take codeine when pregnant? I thought we were only allowed to take paracetamol and avoide everything else unless its been prescribed?

RaRa1988 · 10/11/2013 17:34

Probably, Littlepeapod, but it was prescribed - admittedly not exactly for this, but for generalised severe lower back pain a few weeks back. A&E gave me it, so figured I'd be ok to use it for this too.

If you are worried. I would definetly speak to your MW. I have had sever round ligament pain on and off all the way through. I would check with MW about the codeine but if A&E prescribed it and they knew you were pregnant then I can't see it been an issue. Ope fully you are feeling better today Op.

Thanks. Bit tricky as we don't have direct contact details for her - I might be wrong, but it seems like a lot of people on here do and can just ring if they need help/advice? - but I'll call the surgery in the morning. She knows about the codeine though Smile.

Cool. But just remember, lots if us have bad the round ligament pain and it hurts like crazy.... Another wonderful pregnancy symptom to go with all the other wonderful symptoms (blasting, BH, insomnia, little feet parked under your ribs etc.) Grin Wink

Just be careful and if the pain gets really bad get checked out.

My dsis has had a rough pgy. Sickness, back and stomach pain and just generally off from finding out she was. She actually had appendicitis and was operated on afew weeks ago at 19 weeks pregnant.

Mum and baby doing well now but she was fobbed off a few times and if she hadn't collapsed would never have been diagnosed. She was operated on within a few hours of getting to a & e.

So if it needs codeine and you are still in pain I would get checked out personally. Being pg doesn't stop us from getting ill.
