I know with dc2 most people feel movement earlier but this time I have an anterior placenta and haven't as yet. I had a scan on Thursday so (touch wood)everything Hmmis ok I just want to feel movement! I'm 16+5 second baby. When did others feel there's with an anterior placenta?

From 23 weeks

systemsaddict · 10/11/2013 06:25

It was well after 20 weeks when I felt movement with my 2nd, with an anterior placenta. And I was of course surrounded by people saying 'I felt something at 14 weeks' (including my mother, helpful!)

ilikebaking · 10/11/2013 08:03

I felt, what I thought was baby from around 16/18 weeks, but nothing that I could know for sure until around 24 weeks. DH couldn't feel anything until maybe closer to 28 weeks, he felt the odd jab/flutter but nothing definite.
The midwife wasn't overly concerned and we had a doppler, so I could hear the movements, just not feel them.

I'm 23 weeks and have an anterior placenta and its only been these last 2 weeks iv started to feel movement very fustrating as I thought I would feel movement earlier with it being dc2. I started to panic thinking there was something wrong, glad I feel movement now tho, I think it will probly be around 20 weeks u feel movement :)

I'm pregnant with my first and have an anterior placenta and even though I'm over 20 weeks I still can't really feel much. I started feeling weird sensation at about 18 weeks but it was nothing definite and it certainly hasn't been a regular thing.

I spoke to my Consultant about it a few weeks ago and she said that for first time mums she wouldn't expect regular sensations yet anyway. She also explained that the baby's bones haven't yet calcified and they don't have much in terms of muscle either so although they are moving their limbs there isn't any real force to anything they do.

She said that she wouldn't really expect regular or strong sensations until I was about 23 weeks.

I was nearly 24 weeks. Anterior placenta.

kchapper5 · 10/11/2013 10:04

About 24 weeks, this is my first and I have an anterior placenta

badguider · 10/11/2013 10:05

24 weeks for me too.

MrsSpencerReid · 10/11/2013 10:06

20/22 weeks before I was sure, second baby anterior placenta

Spirael · 10/11/2013 10:10

I had an anterior placenta last time and didn't feel anything definite until around 24 weeks. Another anterior placenta this time, so expecting mostly the same! Maybe a touch earlier, because I know what to expect.

It's a bit of a PITA in the early days when people are saying how early they felt movements and you're worrying whether everything is ok. But, it's very useful later on as it muffles the worst of the movements once the baby is big and giving you some huge wallops, letting you get more sleep!

I had an Anterior placenta and felt next to no movement at all. Towards the end of my pregnancy I had to have trace done twice a week because i could only feel him move between 5-10 times a day if I was lucky. All was ok with him in fact he doesn't stop moving now

duvetfan · 10/11/2013 17:23

It was about 23/24 weeks for me. I didn't know I had an anterior placenta so I was concerned until some lovely ladies on here reassured me.

runninggirl85 · 10/11/2013 20:13

I'm 23 +3 and have felt no movement at all. Anterior placenta too xx

sdaisy26 · 10/11/2013 20:34

I have an anterior placenta this time - have been feeling small movements from 18/19 weeks - getting stronger over the last week or so (now 21 weeks) but still nowhere as strong as they were by this stage with dd (posterior placenta). Last time by now h could feel movements regularly, this time he's only felt one. Glad I have my Doppler as its been v reassuring.

Seff · 11/11/2013 08:05

Anterior placenta with my DD, I felt movements from around 22-24 weeks. I've had a big shock with how much I can feel this time round with a posterior placenta from about 14 weeks.

elcranko · 11/11/2013 08:09

About 23-24 weeks with DC1, anterior placenta.

PinkWitch803 · 11/11/2013 20:40

I felt flutterings from quite early at about 14 weeks, but not all the time.

I have only felt proper monitorable movements since 29weeks ish.

I am 33+4 now and feel the baby very regularly.

I have a scan on 36 weeks to see if my placenta has shifted. Fingers crossed!
