Maternity bra

Hi ladies,
When did you buy your maternity/breast feeding bra?

I'm trying to delay it as much as possible because I'm not sure what size I will be by the time I deliver. Obviously I don't want to leave it too late and venture out in the shops for bras after I would have had the baby. I don't think I will have the time or energy.

I'm wearing stretchy none wired ones now which grow with me , however I will need maternity ones at some point.

What do you reckon ? At around 36 weeks? Or later?
Many thanks

I would leave it as long as you dare really.

I would really really recommend the Anita range which you can get on Figleaves ( free returns too if they don't fit). Anita bras are not cheap but they are the best by a long long way. Don't touch the mothercare ones with a barge pole! They are awful, lose their shape and give no support whatsoever.

Mothercare! Pack of two (a white and a black) were fab! I think they make them a bit bigger anyway but I just bought 1 size up and they were perfect. I'm wearing one right now!!! Smile soooo comfy, it's like you're not wearing a bra.

Oops just read the other post Grin

I've been wearing mine for 7 months and they're still fab...I'm also a size 32F and have no complaints about support (and I need it Confused). I guess its personal experience though, try a few on x

Bravado do really comfy supportive ones. Got black & cream, wore them constantly for a year, easily my favourite of my feeding bras.

Try to leave it a late as you can but dont worry if you have the baby beforehand. I planned to go bra shopping at 38 weeks but my DS decided to make his entrance to the world that week.

After a long labour, including a very severe tear and a 5 day stay in hospital I made DH take me to mothercare the day after i got out of hospital and brought the first bra i tried on. It did the job until i felt well enough to go out properly a few weeks later.

We have a home measuring service around here and they recommend being measured at 36 weeks.

When I went to the bf workshop at the hospital, there was a woman who talked to us about bras. She does a free home fitting service from 36 weeks. The bras are Emma Jane and I am currently (32C) using the sleep bra which is amazing. I also bought 2 nursing bras for afterwards (32D) so will see how they go, but she adjusted all the straps etc. for me and they felt incredibly supportive. I just wish I'd got them sooner! First preg I got measured at M&S and have been wearing the most uncomfortable bras from there all this pregnancy since I had them already.

I am 7+1 and have just bought one Blush None of my normal ones fit and I now can't sleep without wearing one as it's so painful!!

urtwistingmymelonman · 11/11/2013 16:10

im wearing a normal 36d at 37+5 at the mo.
does that mean I should get a 36e for when my milk comes in?

urtwistingmymelonman · 11/11/2013 16:12

to reassure you banana I was like that till about 14 weeks then they went back to normal.
mine always seem to swell a bit in the first few months for some reason.

I second the bravado bras, easy to order online as there is only 3 sizes (S,M,L, if I remember rightly) and they are so comfortable.
