Anyone tried it? I'm so uncomfortable all the time and I'm wondering if they're worth the money

My husband bought me one early on and I have been able to sleep well throughout (34+3 now)... I think it's really helped, particularly in stopping me rolling over onto my back... i haven't had any backache or anything, so I would recommend (though they do seem expensive, I have other friends who just put a pillow between their legs!).

Sammi1986 · 07/11/2013 20:49

Tried the pillow but it kinda slips out of place!

Don't bother! I'm 5ft7 and the pregnancy pillows just are not long enough to give me any support. I was so annoyed that we'd spent £40 on one, but I was desperately uncomfortable at the time.
I've found that having two extra normal pillows works best as I can put them where I need them, fold them, stick a warmed wheat pack in under the covers and I get much more comfy.
Have you tried a support band while you're up and about during the day? Very useful if the pain you're experiencing is in your hips and groin.
Hope you get comfy and rested.

Sammi1986 · 07/11/2013 20:56

Ah... I'm 6ft so could be a problem!
Not tried a support band yet, I'm 16 weeks and seem to be huge already! But I have arthritis so not sure if I'm just flaring

If normal pillows aren't working you might be better trying a memory foam pillow, or if they're a bit expensive try getting some craft foam and cutting to size.
One of my friends swore by a roll of kitchen towel between her knees to stop her legs aching a night!
You might have to try a few things to find what works, and don't forget you can take paracetamol to help out with the pain.

I had one and loved it last pregnancy, haven't needed it yet this time yet. I found it perfectly long enough but then I am only 5'5"...

ReluctantCamper · 07/11/2013 21:10

I used a v shaped pillow, much cheaper than a dreamgenii. It kind of worked, and at least it didn't slip. I still use it now some times (not still up the duff by the way) . I don't really remember ever being comfortable when I was pg though.

nutella81 · 07/11/2013 21:24

I'm your height sammi and found this one worked really well (my DH has also used it when he had a really bad back!)...

Shop around and you may be able to get it cheaper.

I have it, and from 12 to 19 weeks I loved it, I then left it at home whilst I went to stay at my parents for a few weeks - I cried the first night I didn't have it! Now, at 31 weeks I still use it, but it doesn't make it a comfy night.

EeyoreIsh · 07/11/2013 22:26

I don't have a dreamgenii, I've just been a usual but firm normal pillow between the legs. I'm now (at 27 weeks) thinking one under the bump might be useful.

The only problem with pillows is that it makes it even harder to turn over.

Sammi1986 · 07/11/2013 22:49

Thank you so much for your tips ladies, I really appreciate it :)

I picked up a Dreamgenii in TKMaxx for £25 last week. If you do decide to go with it don't pay full price! I think amazon have them for about £30

Julietee · 08/11/2013 08:11

I'm 5"8 and I love mine. Except it says you can pull it through your legs from the other side, which is bollocks at my height. I just put another pillow on that side to put my leg up on.
Try this shop for more variety:

They do tend to be pricey, but I know I'd pay a lot for a good night's sleep (or even just a less uncomfortable one) while tossing and turning!

birdybirdy21 · 08/11/2013 11:49

I thought it was v expensive and didn't work very well for me being 5'8". Probably best just using standard pillows or a bolster pillow like this www.dunelm-mill.com/m/shop/bolster-pillow-49946

Got one. This is the third pregnancy I've used it. It doesn't slip out of place and has been great for preventing me from lying on my back. It's been great and well worth the money but I am looking forward to burning it soon! Wink

ChicaMomma · 10/06/2014 11:16

I have both it and the Argos cheap version, far prefer the latter. Have given the DG to a friend. It was too hard for me, i prefer pillows with give, so the cheap Argos one was better for me! LOVE that one... and i think i paid a tenner for it. or maybe 15.

Have reported this zombie thread as has been resurrected by someone clearly advertising!

I had one and loved it so much I'm still using it - baby is 14 weeks! Am co-sleeping and generally have back and hip probs so find it helps hugely with both things.
I also got mine in tk Maxx and was v lucky to find it reduced and reduced to £8! But tbh it's been so brill, would happily paid full price as I've had so much use out of it. Also perfect for lying down breast feeding.

LittlePeasMummy1 · 11/06/2014 13:23

Got one (full price unfortunatley but at that point would have given a kidney for a good night's sleep), had reasonable sleep for the first night and then decided it didn't make any difference. I am a short arse (5'0) so not related to it being too small for me. Wouldn't really recommend.
