Steroids to avoid pneumothorax (collapsed lung)

Currently 34 weeks pregnant. In 2000 I had a planned c-section at 38 weeks. Baby was born with collapsed lungs - one side was 80% collapsed and needed to be treated and the other side was only about 20% and fixed itself. I have had differing views from my 2 doctors: one says I should consider steroids for lung development and the other doctor doesn't think it would make a difference. Does anyone know if a steroid shot/s would lessen the chances of having a baby born with collapsed lungs?

My son was born at 36 weeks and suffered a collapsed lung (mainly as the hospital were at fault, he had fluid on his lungs but no one checked him for four hours).

However, my consultant has said that this time round they will offer steroid injections (will be having a planned section at 38 weeks). But, that's because I am changing to private care at 35 weeks. The NHS consultant just raised his eyebrows and carried on like I'd never mentioned it...
