There used to be a thread with info on Count The Kicks but its no longe active so I'm restarting it.

countthekicks.org.uk/

The aim of Count The Kicks is to give women the confidence to listen to your instincts and ask for advice from your midwife or doctor if you are ever concerned or worried.

NICE guidelines state that: Any changes in fetal movements should be reported to a midwife or medical professional for further assessment

NEVER think your question is silly.

NEVER think you are being a pain.

NEVER think you are wasting their time.

You are taking responsibility and caring for your baby – you are being a Mother!

Don't faff about with cold drinks, load noises or home dopplers. If you're concerned phone the professionals.

I went in twice when pregnant once with reduced movement at around 30 weeks and once with increased movement at about 34 weeks. Both times all was fine but midwives were lovely and repeatedly told me they'd much prefer to reassure someone than the awful alternative

We also need to understand that for some 10 kicks per day is a reduced movement.

I was monitored quite a few times in my third trimester for reduced movements. I'd had well over 10 each time however the movements were greatly reduced for my baby/pregnancy.

I explained this to MWs who accepted it without question and each time I was monitored.

All was fine with my DD but that's not always the case.

. Really important that mums know to monitor what their baby is doing, and they don't think they're being silly or pfb if they are concerned.

I had a day when I was about 40+3 with reduced movement. I rang the hospital and they just told me to come in. They were super, didn't question me or make me doubt myself, but didnt let me get scared either. After being monitored a while DS started wriggling away and everything was fine, he arrived 5 days later and he's a healthy 2 year old now.

A lovely woman I work with lost her precious little boy just weeks before her due date, and she does a lot for count the kicks now.

How are you meant to use the app? Do you count every singe kick or are do you pic a random 10 mins here and there?
