Commuting (driving) how do/ did you cope?

Hello

I'm 13 weeks and I drive 40miles each way to work a combination of country road, A road, motorway and city centre. Its about 1hr15 each way (often more). The last 6 weeks or so my life has essentially been drive to work/ work/ drive home/ eat/ sleep > start all over again. I've been so exhausted I've slept a good 3hrs/ Saturday & Sunday day time. I leave at 6.40am to beat the traffic and am usually home by 6pm.

People keep telling me that the tiredness will pass as I go into 2nd trimester. I pray it will as I'm barely coping at the mo!

A very kind friend living near work lets me stay the odd night when I need to, and I've been working from home one day/ week since I moved here in the summer.

Just wondered how others found big amounts of driving when preggo.

In case you're wondering there's no public transport alternatives (or car share) as I live in the Stix and work out of the city.

Your commute and your exhaustion sound a lot like mine (no longer pg, youngest is 2). We are also in the sticks. Overwhelming exhaustion passed into Tigger-type bounciness in 2nd semester though.

i work five days a week 3 of those days i work in the city which takes to an hour and a half and the other two days i work in a town which takes me an hour and ten mins. to be honest my tiredness didnt really pass in second trimester only to get doubly worse in third trimester am currently 29weeks and have been signed off by doc Sad tiredness got too much hopefully u wont be as bad rest as much as you can.

Sorry to say this, but the tiredness didn't go away for me. I've had to work from home more and have midday naps and go to bed early (8/9pm) several times a week. I'm 27 weeks and it's been the same throughout. I've had one day off for tiredness. But the doctor has offered to sign me off if I find the commute too bad (but that's more because of pain than tiredness).

Oh that sounds really hardHmm
I commuted about an hour each way with DD1 & like you found it incredibly hard. I'm sorry to say I'm not sure it did get much easier either...but I was lucky that once a week I could get the train which helped massively. Could you speak to your work about doing more work at home or changing your hours somehow so maybe do 4 long days (not sure if that would help). All you can do is sleep when you can & enjoy lie ins at the weekend whilst you can!
