Could you diagnose this pain for me please?

My midwife just scoffed and said “its pregnancy dear” and then referred to my weight… I am a size 16-18! – she is a useless toad at the best of times!
I have a pain in my left leg joint, where it joins the pelvis – it is agony. The 3 minute walk on the school run makes me cry. I can’t bloody walk! Moving at all is sharp pain, staying still is aching. I am only 16 weeks. I had this pain with my last two pregnancies (but not the first) and frankly this time it feels debilitating. She said it’s nothing to do with SPD because the scissor movement isn’t as bad as moving legs apart the other way (spread apart if that makes sense?).

If you can tell me what it is perhaps I can buy something online to help until I see the consultant next

Please forgive my very non-technical explanation!

Sounds like the pain I got with SPD and to be totally honest not a lot takes it away!
Try paracetamol with a hot bath and try not to walk too much was all the advice I got from my physio!
U should chase it with ur doctor though as u need to see a physio x

I agree with terrilou it sounds like sciatica and there's not a lot you can do except a good physio, paracetamol and heat pads/ hot water bottle I find helps.
I had it 5 years ago in a really acute form where I ended up on crutches with pain right to my feet. Eventually had acupuncture to help the nerves.
This time I have it on the opposite side, not as bad but coincided with when I think I fell pregnant. Already going to physio and although it is painful it helps long term. Mine always starts in my back.
Even if this is not what it is I think physio treatment would benefit you if you can get it.
Hope you get good help soon.
