I have no idea! Have an hour long commute and then do a fairly long day desk job - with plenty of up and down to go to internal meetings, photocopier etc. Can be stressful. No maternity cover planned for me to there won't be a period of work trailing off. 3 weeks before DD?

I've been off now for 2 weeks and DD due in 3. Well I'm now 37 weeks so officially full term. I would have struggled the last few weeks and used annual leave. Everyone is different though so hard to say!

SweetPea86 · 03/11/2013 19:54

I'm taking mine early I think! Maybe about 29 to 30 weeks

You may think this is early but I'm taking a fully year off work.

I have a pretty busy job on my feet for the whole of the working week and work over 6 days. Plus stressful

I want the months leave up to baby being born totally stress free. Using my spare time to plan and decorate nursey but every thing needed.

Catch up with family and friends. And quite frankly be a bit selfish and have to me time.

I get little time to do any thing around work hours and the last few months of serve sickness have worn me out. I'm not leaving February due in April. Even the thought of getting through the next few months is wearing me out lol.

It's entirely up to you and how you feel. If I feel fine I might stay longer.

I know lots of ladies who stayed right till last min

ladymalfoy · 03/11/2013 19:54

As soon as I fucking can! I can't see myself coping until the end of term despite all my good intentions before half term. Bumps grown loads in my week off which showed me I hadn't really been taking it easy. I'm going to give it a few weeks and see how I feel. Then visit the doc or MW and see what they think.

April13 · 03/11/2013 19:54

I've loads of annual leave to take so am going to reduced weeks for 4 weeks (using annual leave, just taking fri/mon off), annual leave for 10 days, then may leave 6 days before due date ??

Anothermrssmith · 03/11/2013 20:17

Will be induced at 38 weeks for medical reasons and finishing at 33 weeks. Induction will be the first week of January so stopping start of December. Thinking at the moment I would be ok working up until the Christmas break but you know what it's like, everything grinds to a halt at christmas/new year so I want to make sure I have a couple of weeks to do last minute baby/Christmas organisation.

Only 20working days to go,and they can not pass quick enough!

dimdommilpot · 03/11/2013 20:38

I will be starting my mat leave on my due date but taking 2 weeks annual leave before hand. I did this last time and was fine so hopefully wont encounter any problems this time.

quackojuliet · 03/11/2013 21:12

Ladymalfoy when are you due? I guess from your post that you're also a teacher? I'm due mid jan so trying to get to end of term so I can get full pay over xmas hols but will be 37 weeks and suspect this may be pushing it...find it very hard work when pg.

LST · 03/11/2013 21:47

I'm finishing on Christmas eve and I'm due the end of January. I can't wait!

greentshirt · 03/11/2013 22:26

I think I'm going to use annual leave from 36 weeks then start maternity leave on my due date. I've a feeling work might try to get me to finish earlier (subtly of course! ;) ) in which case I'll call their bluff and have a month of sick before 36 weeks. Hope it won't come to that though!

2tired2bewitty · 03/11/2013 22:35

My job sounds similar to yours OP, an hour on the tube but mostly seated once i get there. Last time i was 38+1 on my last day in the office (dd born at 40+2) which was ok. I'm thinking of going a bit earlier this time but more because Easter is in the way.

My manager was trying convince me to go before we move offices in March as he thinks it will be hellish (he's probably right) but that's a bit early as we only get SMP

Xmasbaby11 · 03/11/2013 22:55

I'm due end of Jan. Finishing 20 Dec at 35 weeks (I think). Whoopee! It doesn't feel worth going back to work after Xmas, and I want to enjoy some time with DD / myself!

Last time I worked up until 36 weeks and that was a struggle. But had to wait over 6 weeks before DD was born!

Romily · 03/11/2013 23:11

I am finishing at the Christmas holidays however my maternity leave will kick in at the start of January. Finishing at 33 weeks but mat leave starting at 35 weeks. Due to complications my baby will be delivered by 38 weeks at the latest and I think I will need the time off to get things in order and to rest.

Soopermum1 · 04/11/2013 10:57

Finishing end of this week, with 3 weeks to go til due date. One of those weeks is annual leave.

Thought I'd be Ok as commute is fine (Londoners I've encountered have been very kind) and work is desk bound, but stressful. Have been working from home as well for a couple of days a week.

However, I based my general expected level of fitness on when I had DS 10 years ago and my usual level of health and fitness (pretty good.) I'm now completely knackered and have to lay all evening on the sofa and go to bed early to get though the next day,

Writerwannabe83 · 04/11/2013 11:12

I'm a Community Nurse so quite active, in and out my car all day, spending hours visiting people at home etc so I'm not too sure how far I will get into my pregnancy before I find that too tiring. I have got 2 weeks off Annual Leave I can take, so possibly leaving at about 35 weeks?? Due to my health issues though I may have to have an early c-sec so that may alter my plans Smile

jammiecat · 04/11/2013 11:29

I'm finishing at 30 weeks (but I am expecting twins). First time round when working full time I finished at 36 weeks and DS arrived at 38 weeks but I did work from home a couple of days a week due to the commute in the last couple of months.

littlecrumb · 04/11/2013 12:21

I am finished at 35 weeks. Due middle of January so it means I get Christmas off! Which when you work in retail is just amazing Smile looking forward to getting organised and enjoying spending time with family.
Less than 6 weeks to go and can't wait!

Frizz1986 · 04/11/2013 12:59

I am planning to leave at 37 weeks.
I do a desk job so am hoping that I can last as then I can use my left over annual leave to take me until the new year when my mat leave can start.
Am due early Jan and just hoping I can hold out as long as possible

ladymalfoy · 04/11/2013 13:15

Jack. I am indeed a teacher and HOD of a very practical subject.
I left at lunchtime today because I was weeing so much and my hips and back hurt so much. I'll be 39 weeks at the end of term but really can't see me lasting that long.
The bigger I get the more demanding and rough the pupils get it seems. I'm only taking six months so need to keep going to get the most time with our little one .

impatienttobemummy · 04/11/2013 13:18

I'm at the beginning of my first week off! I'm 36 weeks. I am using annual leave I saved up and mat leave officially starts the week of my due date. I've got lots to organise and frankly also need a rest! Last pregnancy I went off at 35 weeks I was much bigger so it depends on your job etc. if I drove in and sat at a desk I might have pushed longer but travelling in on the train and on your feet a lot no way!
