Changing moles during pregnancy

Hi there.
I am new to this but feel the need to ask for advice. I have had a mole on my breast for as long as I can remember. I had it checked 18 months ago while I was still breastfeeding. I was told it was fine. I am now 19 weeks pregnant and had it checked again this week, I have been told that it has very slightly changed, not in colour or size, I am not sure what kind of change my doctor means! I have been referred to a specialist who I see next week but I am petrified this is melanoma and it has been left for too long.
Has anyone had this kind of experience? Do moles change in pregnancy? I keep reading such conflicting advice.
Thanks

It isn't a sure sign at all. Calm down.... You are low risk, you have one mole in a place I am guessing doesn't get much sun:)

I have hundreds have lots that have changed and been removed and all that have been ok. A tiny fraction of removed moles have a problem. Your gp is cautious which is great. Hope your appointment leaves you feeling much better.

In fact, I have just had a look at just the moles on my arms, and nearly all of them are asymmetric! Please don't worry. Let us know what the dermatologist says when you're back!

weezie78 · 05/11/2013 09:59

The problem is though it was symmetrical but the change has caused it to become asymmetric. God I'm terrified. Sorry everyone I'm just so scared of what they might tell me xx

Yeah but all those many moles removed have also had reason to be taken off, lots of mine became more asymmetric and some even scabbed but they were all ok like most peoples' manky moles.

Mine in pregnancy grow and change texture I could have had quite a few off but then they settle.

You are really worried and that is horrid but your risk is really low, step away from Google and its terrors see the expert and go from there.

Look at mousmous at the top of this thread for example: that was a very marked asymmetrical change (1 mole splitting into 2 would not need a microscope to spot!) but they were both fine.

Hang on in there - not long until your appointment now and then you can relax and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!!

LT xx

I've been to a dermatologist for a two colour assymetric mole and it was fine.

Hope you are getting good news.

Dermatologist didn't seem too concerned, she said it looks very normal!! Thank goodness. Thank you everyone xx

Sorry to revive a zombie thread, I have been referred to specialist as freckle grew in pregnancy and I didn't notice it... Now asymetrical and I am a little worried. Any good news stories out there?

Redken24 · 16/05/2016 21:24

Hi, Does your freckle/mole have hair or is raised?

blueturtle6 · 16/05/2016 21:53

No hair, slightly raised
