Growth and doppler scan after reduced fetal movement!

I'm back again, bothering about movement! I had another ctg today and baby was a little sleepy (although she still passed) and because I was so uptight they did a scan. Doppler was good and growth was spot on, baby moved more during the scan and continued to do so afterwards. Obviously I will still keep an eye on movement, but would you be reassured by this/is this totally reassuring? They are still giving me ctg's daily to help manage my anxiety, but say that they see nothing wrong.

Hi, I read some of your posts previously, and you seemed to be getting really good advice.

I can only to this by saying that I think you know the problem isn't with your baby, but with your anxiety. I can really sympathise as I was very similar in my pregnancy, but for me, knowing it was the problem 'in my head' made me feel better if that makes any sense.

I'm trying to think of practical things you could do to help your anxiety. I used to count the kicks first thing in the morning, & if I felt 10, then I knew I was 'safe' for the rest of the day - at least for a few hours anyway. Perhaps you could try something similar - count your kicks, so you feel reassured, then do something for, say an hour, to keep your mind from the movements, keep doing this but increasing the time between each - the fact that nothing bad happens the first time should give you reassurance the next time, and you should get into a positive cycle, rather than this negative one of if you aren't checking something will go wrong.

Thanks for you, I hope you start to feel better soon.

Thank you ever so for the tip! I have indeed recieved very good advice previously (it's why I keep coming back!) and am waiting on a referral to a MH team which should help with the anxiety. I know these questions make me look a bit mad, but I think what I'm actually looking for is reassurance that I'm being mad, iyswim!

So if I say 'you're being a mad bat' that will help Grin

I would also speak to your mw or GP again. When I was getting some anxiety post natally my health visitor gave me some print outs with some CBT self help advice - it was a website, but I can't remember the address or I'd post it here.

OP - how are you feeling today?

CAnn88 · 02/11/2013 11:25

Hi EllaMenOhPea. Am trying to keep my head in place before my ctg later! Not to over state the issue, but I really am feeling very fraught despite the good scan yesterday, every hour of the day feels pretty torturous if I'm honest. I love being pregnant and I'm desperate for this baby to be ok, but I'm so terrified that she is going to die in utero or at birth that I can barely breath. Have been on at the drs about getting some kind of support, but it's just not happening.
