How long can you go without eating before it's a problem? (MS)

Stupid Q, probably, and I guess I'm a lot better off than many people, but just wondering when MS and not eating becomes a problem? All I've had (just now, not sure yet if I'll keep it down) in the last 43 hrs is a bowl of soup with some grated cheese. Feeling pretty tired, but otherwise ok apart from the nausea and abdo/back pains.

Are you drinking plenty?

JeanSeberg · 01/11/2013 14:26

Are you able to keep fluids down (water not soup)?

Mogz · 01/11/2013 15:13

As long as you're keeping down fluids like water, juice, milk then you will be ok for quite a while. You will need to mention that you're having problems with solids to your MW or GP though so they can keep an eye on your nutrition.

No not really. Had a cup of apple juice and a few sips of water between 2200 Wed and 1000 this morning, and I've had a few sips of water and a small glass of elderflower water since then.

Ok, I suggest you call your MW and let her know you're having problems as dehydration can kick is pretty quick. I was hospitalised three times because of it early on, yuck! Keep trying to sip at fluids as much as possible, it might also be worth trying ice lollies or cubes, sometimes the cold helps.
I hope it passes for you soon, check out the hyperemesis support thread on the pregnancy forum for support and good ideas.

That's the problem, Mogz , I haven't had my booking-in appt yet. I've met the midwife, but I don't have a contact number for her or anything like that Sad
