Still haven't got round to packing hosp bag but I'm only 29 weeks so no rush. Just browsed eBay and noticed that they sell the bags pre-packed with most of the essentials within reason. Not sure whether to go for this or just get a bag and pack it myself...what did u do??

I wouldn't because I like to choose my own things and get my own bargains. However, I think they're good for babies born in an emergency. I wouldn't buy something like this from ebay as you can't see the quality of the product beforehand. Mothercare do them too and so do Babies r Us.

What?!

Where's the fun? (Can you tell that I enjoyed packing mine? Smile)

Frecklesandspecs · 31/10/2013 11:17

no...you Will only open and repack it anyway.......!

You need very little in your bag, honestly. Scarcely more than you'd need for an overnight at your mum's, say, the extras being mostly pads (breast pads and mat pads for lochia).

It's nice to have nice toiletries but the small sizes are best bought in the January sales when the shops are getting rid of gift sets cheap, and you won't use much anyway.

I wouldn't buy one, just had a look and personally think they are a rip off, plus its more fun to pack your own then you get what you want/need

blondebaby111 · 31/10/2013 13:39

Yeah I've just had another look and diary from the pads, nappies etc the restbims just a waste Ie shampoo, I'd take my own and tooth paste...what was I thinking!!! Just found a nice vag and I'll start sorting some bits out x

:) at nice vag . . .

princesscupcakemummyb · 31/10/2013 15:31

i wouldnt bother cause you will end up adding to it anyway its prob cheaper doing your own

Mrspebble · 31/10/2013 15:35

You might need a new vag alright Wink.. Ah only messing.

Don't overpack.. I used samples out of magazines for shampoo etc. very warm so light cardi might be better than heavy gown. I took peppermint tea, soda water for wind. Dark pj bottoms and couple of light tshirts, long nightie.

Don't bother with newborn gro's .. 0 to 3 be fine x

I've just got the empty bottles from poundland and filled them with my own stuff.
stuff gets nicked on the labour ward!

My advice is to take/use the maternity pads you are offered in hospital and make sure you have one pack with you and at least one pack at home. I was surprised at how many I got through over the first few days with the Lochia.

Having said that was a lot of fun requesting them when FIL called to see if I needed anything on his way over (oh the though of him having to go to the "ladies section" of the supermarket - but he did offer!)
