shock pregnancy with implant - help!

Hi everyone,

I took 2 pregnancy tests today and, to our shock, I'm pregnant.
I got the Nexplanon implant fitted in July and NEVER in a million years though I'd get pregnant.
For about 3 weeks my boobs have been hurting, stomach cramps, lower back pain, feeling sick (more so at night), headaches, increased eating, tiredness, achy legs etc, although no spotting (I thought this was one of the most common symptoms).

Any of you ladies experienced the same thing. I'm happy but extremely shocked, can't have faith in any contraception these days it seems.
My boyfriend did inform me he'd been taking a tablet to boost his testosterone (he's a gym freak) and though maybe this could have something to do with it?

Also, I'm experiencing weird cramps, almost like a pulling feeling? Could anyone tell me if they've had this too?

x

Can you feel the implant under your skin? I haf an implant for 6 years without issue. I've read that there are only ever pregnancies because the doc or nurse didn't check it had come out of that massive syringe and actually been under the skin.

Also, super macho sperm don't trump the implant Wink

And if indeed this is a bona fide pregnancy, the pulling is normal.

False positives are rare though.

Isn't the implant supposed to stop you ovulating? So no amount of super sperm would help if it had worked.

The implant is very much still there, although it seems to have moved a little to the right, not inline with the scar at all.
I will wait until I see the midwife and if I 100% am I will definitely be complaining and I previously had the implanon and no problems whatsoever, but they don't use it anymore.

eurochick the thing is, ever since I started my period, I've suffered from really bad ovulation pains, which I hear isn't uncommon. With the implanon I never had this, though I did on the pill, patch and this new implant. Thinking maybe is wasn't put in correctly as it has moved :S

It can fail if it's inserted into the wrong place too apparently OP. Or so I was told when it was inserted. Not sure if I should congratulate you or say sorry Confused

You seem ok with it though, so here, have these Thanks

Aw thank you Jolleigh.

Both of us are thrilled, as I was going to get it taken out at the beginning of next year anyway, but I'm sure there are people out there that put there full confidence in it and then things like this happen x
