The Great Pushchair Debate

I'm only 14 weeks so I've got ages before we need to start thinking about buying our pushchair but I've just starting having a look at what's around and it's like a black hole - how the hell does anyone choose one!
DH basically goes round shaking the handle bars on them all to see if they rattle - apparently that's a deal break for him! The only ones that don't appear to do that are Bugaboos. But even then, there's loads to choose from. Do you go for something small and nippy or sturdy but heavier?
But I think iCandy's look so much nicer and can convert to doubles should we need it later - argh!
We live in a small village so need to drive to shops etc but enjoy taking the dog for a walk (although I'm not sure we'd attempt any buggy in the fields!)
Just wanted to know how everyone else came to their decision? We've seen LOTS in the flesh but aren't any better off really. Do you just take a leap of faith and hope you've picked the right one?

Hi cupcake there is a Pushchair section you might get more replies there lots of posters who have tried many different pushchairs.

In my experience (ex nanny so many different pushchairs) you get what you pay for so buy the best you can afford.

I favor Bugaboos, but to the Bee way to flimsy for me for the price.
I also like the Stokke Xplory but haven't used one enough to know if they are any better than bugaboos.
The icandys get a lot of good reviews.

Have you seen there's a whole Pushchair Forum

It might be worth reading there, as it's a fairly active place, and there are already lots of threads on the pushchairs you're asking about and I'm sure you'd find them helpful.

You might want to ask MNHQ to move this thread there.

Oh thank you, sorry I didn't realise. I'll repost there...

If you want one for walking the dog I'd suggest on with bigger wheels rather then the smaller stroller type. They're much better for bumpy surfaces, I loved my obaby one which converted to a double (like phil&teds but cheaper) it was brilliant but the back wheels kept breaking. Would have loved the phil&teds which doesn't have this problem but couldn't afford it.
