Am currently 7+5 and have been throwing up every couple of hours since Friday night.

Before Friday I hadn't been sick and hadn't really experienced that much queasiness (a bit, coming and going) and I only had nausea but not sickness when pregnant with DS.

I haven't eaten since Friday (tried a few times yesterday) Every time I try to eat something my stomach bloats, goes hard and then I'm sick.

I am throwing up loads of yellow bile (?) and I don't know if I am being paranoid or not but bit worried its a problem with my gall bladder.

What should I do (considering it's a Sunday afternoon..) try and make a GP's apt for tomorrow?

The sickness seems to be getting closer together as well.

Try sucking ice lollies. You are throwing up bile because your stomach is empty. Ring an on call doctor. It is probably morning sickness but you don't want to get dehydrated.

All my morning sickness was yellow - almost highlighter yellow.

Try to eat bland carbs and protein when you can face a small mouthful. And yes, if no improvement see GP for help.

If it's any consolation the first few days were the worst for me.

It sounds like you have hyperemisis. It hit me between 7 and 8 weeks in both of my pg. it is awful, you poor thing. The good news is that, as long as you can stay hydrated, it will not affect your baby, however grim you feel. Your GP can prescribe anti sickness meds; here are a few which affect different people differently. Your GP may be reluctant, in which case go to a&e. If you are finding it difficult to even drink a sip of water (goodness knows I did), try melting an ice cube in your mouth, but the sad reality is that I was so sick and so dehydrated that I was hospitalised on a drip to rehydrate for a few days about 4 times in each pg.

There is an ongoing hyperemisis support thread in the pregnancy. Also have a look at Pregnancy Sickness support.

Did hyperemesis come out of the blue for you? I wasn't even feeling that sick before and am I likely to get it when I didn't really get any sickness with DS?

I so hope it's not, I really feel for anyone that suffers that way. Having said that, better than my gall bladder packing up I guess...

Also, if I have just picked up a bug how long should it last do you reckon? I would have thought I'd be getting better by now if a bug?

This happened to a friend of mine. Completely out of the blue as wel, but hers was earlier in the pregnancyl. Hard to say that if it is a bug it would be gone by now, as I had gastroenteritus for 10 days. It is best to see a doctor to be sure. I was ill when pregnant with ds2 and being very worried about him. I thought my temperature and excruciating stomach pains would affect him. They didn't. I am recovering from a rare reaction to medication which gave me jaundice. You would be itchy all over if it was gall bladder and jaundiced, I think. I went wild on google when I didn't know why I'd turned yellow!

Can you keep water down? Like small sips?

I had a few bouts of severe vomiting interspersed with constant nausea so it can present itself in different ways. I called the nhs number after I got dehydrated and spoke to a gp who got a prescription together for me thst helped.

noseymcposey · 27/10/2013 13:51

spanky how long did it last for your friend?

cat water is staying down ok which is a good thing. I'm just sipping as and when

She started virtually straight away with ds3. It stopped when she gave birth. It was very severe. Glad the water is staying down.

I am afraid hyperemisis did just come out of the blue for me nosey. One day fine, next day not, no "grey area" in between. For me, I got it in both pg, but I do have a friend who didn't have it in her first pg, not even any "ordinary" morning sickness, but who did get hyperemisis in her 2 subsequent pg. For me, it cleared up - again overnight - at about 15 weeks.

noseymcposey · 27/10/2013 19:06

oh no :( I guess the next few days will tell me one way or another
