Lochia after csection v vb

I'm not due until April but will most likely require an elcs this time round. I had crazy loggia after my vb and was readmitted at 6 weeks postnatal. I've heard that lochia after a section is less as they "clear you out". Is that true?

I had much less after dd2 was born than I did dd1, but I also had a tube in to drain it (which I didn't with dd1).

Dd1 was born in the UK (emerg CS under GA) & Dd2 in Australia, (elec section)

I've had 2 c sections. The first was an emergency section after which I had very heavy lochia for 6/7 weeks. The second was an elective section after which I had almost no lochia after the first day or so. I think they do suction out (sorry if tmi) a lot of the lochia with an elective section as they take more time to complete the operation. Congratulations and good luck!

No difference whatsoever, they only take put what you deliver vaginally. The best thing to reduce bleeding is breast feeding hormones

I had an ELCS and bled for around a month despite near constant breast feeding.

It wasn't very heavy though so that was something!

I actually bled more and longer after a section than the 4 normal births i had !

My vaginal birth I bled a lot...my emcs I bled for 5 days! It was so much better!
