Hi

I am probably being highly unreasonable, although this is starting to get to me. I'm 17+4 and don't feel pregnant any more, other than being really tired. I cannot feel any flutters / kicks, and I don't like not having symptoms. I have been getting some period type pains too I guess which could be good?! I have to wait another fortnight for my scan - I feel like it is going to be a long 2 weeks.

Any advice?

I'm nearly 24 weeks and have only really started feeling movement in the last week or two. I have an anterior placenta which means the placenta is at the front and the doctor said that tends to cushion a lot of the baby's movement. So please don't worry - I think 17 weeks might be too early to start feeling movement even with a placenta that's where it's supposed to be.

You're early to be feeling movement anyway, so you wouldn't be expected to do so recognisably and reliably.

And it's completely normal for symptoms to ease early in the 2nd trimester. It seems like a long time between the 12 and 20 week scans, especially if your midwife doesn't listen to the baby's heartbeat in between. Call her if you're worried, though.

Yes if you're really worried speak to your midwife. She will reassure you. Do any local hospitals have an Early Pregnancy unit? One near me has a drop in clinic each morning where you self refer, see a midwife and get a scan if necessary. I went when I had bad cramp like pains.
Take care.

Hi

I am 1 day out from you!!

I am suddenly "human" again this week - it is the placenta starting to take over & hormones playing less of a role.

As for kicks, I do feel them but they are very subtle & not sure if its your first pregnancy but it is more common to feel them early in second pregnancies onwards. It could also be an anterior placenta? Do you know where that is situated yet?

If you are worried, contact someone, but there are reasonable explanations for all you have said!

I feel the same hugs, im 17+3 at the moment. All i'm getting are horrible frequent headaches and a bloaty tummy.... not feeling very pregnant, just poorly lol. I havent felt anything yet either, its worrying me a little too. It may help to speak with your MW and asking her to check up on the heartbeat... it makes you feel like there is a baby in there again :)
